In the Tantra of Great Wisdom, it says, "The Sixteen Protectors, the first of the Vehicles." That is, by dividing appearance, increase, attainment, and near attainment into four each, sixteen grounds are established. Similarly, there are countless ways of establishing them, such as dividing them into twenty-one. These establishments are spoken of in terms of their nature, the qualities of body and wisdom, and not in terms of the differences in the order of high and low attained through practice and accumulation, as in the lower vehicles. The Dharmakaya is the realm of the formless, the very nature of purity, equality, and great perfection from the beginning, the mandala of wisdom that is effortless. As Pandit Rongpa said, "If there are differences in the result, it cannot be summarized into three vehicles." Nevertheless, the Pandit of Bengal said, "If the paths are near and far, the results must be good and bad. Because all the teachings of Buddhism must have cause and effect that are not reversed." For the time being, let us record the views of the ancient masters: Maitripa asserted that enlightenment cannot be attained through the path of the Paramitas alone, and therefore explained the necessity of the Prajnaparamita as a stepping stone to the Mantrayana path. Naropa said that even by entering the gate of the Paramita Vehicle, enlightenment can be attained, but the difference between Secret Mantra and the exoteric teachings is that it is easier to liberate and quicker to liberate. Having quoted this, the Ground of Samantaprabha explains that one still needs to enter the Mantra path and accomplish enlightenment through the quick path. However, the meaning of that quote does not seem to be interpreted in that way. If there are differences in the causes of the Sutra and Tantra, such as the two stages, then it is the nature of things that there are differences in the results, just like amla fruit soaked in water and milk. Therefore, the assertion that the tenth ground in the Sutra is said to be Buddhahood is based on considering it to be near, which is the same as saying it is intermediate. Similarly, in relation to the result of Vajradhara in Tantra, the assertion that the eleventh ground is also established by considering it to be near, that the eleventh ground, the Ground of Samantaprabha, is a limited Supreme Buddha, and that the thirteenth ground, the state of Vajradhara, is an inconceivable unsurpassed Buddha, also exists. In this regard, it should be explained as follows:

It should be done like this. From the ultimate point of view, it is also difficult to assume that there are differences in causes. If the cause refers to the Tathagatagarbha, then it pervades all sentient beings' realms, being pervaded by it. If it refers to the two stages, then these two, one is skillful means, and the other is wisdom. Because the six perfections abide in the nature of both skillful means and wisdom, the mantra skillful means are swift, and the difference in the depth of wisdom lies in the fact that the essence of the generation stage and the completion stage in the nature of meditation and wisdom are not contradictory. Therefore, all Tathagatas are of one taste and one essence in the Dharmadhatu, and there is no contradiction in the nature of wisdom. From the perspective of one's own path, the nature of attaining enlightenment in the form of signs and marks, with different forms, and the manifestation of skillful means and activities for taming those to be tamed, appearing in accordance with the realms, faculties, and consciousness of the disciples of both Sutra and Tantra, is the great sovereign of wisdom that appears everywhere, and is universally present. Therefore, the different meanings of consciousness do not contradict each other. The word Buddha should be understood in this way. For example, the Sanskrit word (梵文,梵文天城体:भगवन्,梵文罗马拟音:bhagavan,汉语字面意思:Bhagavan) means Bhagavan, because it possesses the qualities of subduing afflictions and so on, it is called that. Another explanation is that the Sanskrit word (梵文,梵文天城体:भग,梵文罗马拟音:bhaga,汉语字面意思:Bhaga) means fortune, and the Sanskrit word (梵文,梵文天城体:वन्,梵文罗马拟音:van,汉语字面意思:Van) also includes the meaning of having. Therefore, the Buddhas possess sovereignty, perfection, and so on, so they are called virtuous or fortunate. Similarly, although the objects to which the words apply are different, in short, because they possess the Dharani that is inseparable, they are Bhagavan. Therefore, from the initial point of view, it is the Buddha who is free from desire, from the second point of view, it is the perfect and sovereign Tantric Buddha, and from the third point of view, it is the meaning of many in one taste, inseparable, and not separated in the nature of Dharma. The word Buddha is used as a term, because adding suffixes to the Sanskrit word can accomplish three meanings. Like this, the Vajra nature of the body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas is the Bodhicitta, which is no different between the mind of lineage, the mind of the causal stage, and the mind of the result stage. The nature of Bodhi is not different from each other, but non-dual.
