Therefore, the Dharma that enables one to attain Nirvana is the support of the path of seeing, the seven branches of enlightenment. As stated in the "Letter to a Friend": Mindfulness and perfect discernment, diligence and joy, serenity and concentration, and equanimity, these seven are the branches of enlightenment, the virtuous accumulation that attains Nirvana. Among them, mindfulness is not forgetting the object. Perfect discernment is the wisdom that distinguishes the characteristics of the Great Vehicle's Dharma-patience, Dharma-wisdom, subsequent patience, subsequent wisdom, and their retinue. Diligence is manifest joy in its own nature. Joy is the mind's delight in that very object. Serenity is the fitness of body and mind. Concentration is the mind not being distracted from one-pointedness. Equanimity is the mind and mental factors being calm and spontaneously accomplished. These seven dharmas are the companions of the path of seeing, the uncontaminated branches of enlightenment, and are therefore called the branches of enlightenment. The essence is the liberation from the portions of the afflictive obscurations and cognitive obscurations that are to be abandoned by seeing, according to one's own share. As stated in the "Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes": The obscuration of afflictions and the obscuration of knowledge are shown as two. All their obscurations, when they are exhausted, are considered liberation. The difference between the afflictive obscurations and the cognitive obscurations is, as stated in the "Ratnagotravibhāga": Stinginess and other conceptual thoughts are considered the obscuration of afflictions. Any conceptualization of the three spheres is considered the obscuration of knowledge. Therefore, whatever non-virtuous or unspecified obscurations that do not pacify the mind, such as stinginess, are afflictive obscurations. Virtuous actions with outflows that are accompanied by clinging to the truth of the three spheres, or the un-obscured, unspecified nature of the grasping and the grasped, related to the object and the subject, are cognitive obscurations. Among them, the conceptually imputed afflictive obscurations are to be abandoned by seeing, and the innate ones are to be abandoned by cultivation. Similarly, the gross grasping and the grasped conceptualizations of the cognitive obscurations are to be abandoned by seeing, and the subtle ones are to be abandoned by cultivation. The categories are: whatever is conceptually imputed that becomes an obstacle to the path of seeing is the characteristic of what is to be abandoned by seeing.

In short, in terms of nature, there are desire, anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt. In terms of the way of wrongly engaging, there are the view of the perishable collection, the view of holding to extremes, the wrong view, the view of holding views as supreme, and the view of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, these five views, plus desire, anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt, these five non-views, making a total of ten. If we differentiate them in terms of object, realm, and the way of wrongly engaging, there are eighty-two to be abandoned by seeing. Among them, the five views are in accordance with the four truths, and the five non-views are in accordance with following along, and so on. If you want to understand these details, you can refer to the 'Ratnagotravibhāga.' Here, if we consider the fruit of wisdom arising from abandoning these subtle details, let us briefly establish the definition of the first ground. As it says in the 'Uttaratantra Shastra': 'Being close to enlightenment and seeing the accomplishment of the meaning of beings, great joy arises, therefore it is called the 'Extremely Joyful' ground.' Like that, at the time of first obtaining transcendental wisdom, what is to be abandoned, including the seeds, is simultaneously ceased. With the wisdom of individual self-awareness, one directly realizes the two selflessnesses. The Dharmadhatu pervades all self and others, and through distinct realization, one realizes the Bodhicitta of equality between self and others. Because one obtains unprecedented great joy, it is called the first ground, the Extremely Joyful ground. In a single moment, one can behold the faces of a hundred Buddhas,
