It is not a suitable object for loving-kindness. So it is said. If one has the means and ability to reverse the lack of faith in oneself, then it is possible to cut off the stream of non-merit of the other party. For example, when the small kings did not wage war against Ajatashatru, Queen Mother Lusphag accused him, saying that you had done non-meritorious deeds to the Tathagata, so this happened. If someone regards a virtuous friend as an enemy and a bad person, but makes friends with him and speaks pleasant words, then the power of sin is limitless. The more one associates and makes friends, the more merit decreases, the more vows are broken, and the more the rain of afflictions falls. As it is said in the Tantra of the Source of Ambrosia: When reviling the Vajra Master, avert it with peaceful or wrathful actions. If you do not have the ability, purify it with the memory of earrings. Do not associate with him, do not speak to him. If you become familiar with him, you will be tormented in the lower realms. Therefore, from the path of mantra, it is also shown as the field of liberation. For Bodhisattvas who do not possess such abilities or who are fond of enduring asceticism, the memory of the faults of cursing the guru should be like a hand covering the consciousness of the ear, and they should be kept away from intimacy and conversation. For all beings, represented by those who are close, associating is as comfortable as a belt, entering is as comfortable as salt, and enduring is as great as a pillar. Treat the guru's retinue and vajra brothers with kindness. In this way, hold the lineage of the guru, or uphold all actions of vows, or uphold the close ones who are the basis of empowerment, as well as the groups of disciples and patrons, etc. In short, do not do anything that contradicts the guru's mind. In the General Sutra it is said: Treat his close ones like saints, treat his retinue servants like relatives, and always look at them with an equal mind. For those who are close to the body, treat them like the guru, and for the retinue and disciples, etc., treat them like relatives. Remember to be close, and do not become a burden to everyone, so associating is as comfortable as a belt, and it is compatible with everything, big and small, good and bad, so entering is as comfortable as salt, and all boredom and wrong views.

Like a pillar of patience, one must also be close to the retinue. Because they also bear the burden of serving the guru, preparing food and drink, entertaining guests, etc., this is to repay the kindness of our comfortable life. On the other hand, if you alienate those around you, then you will temporarily rely on those connections that connect inside and outside. As it is said in the Yeshe Drubpa Tantra: "The guru's property and retinue, alienating those around you, abandon greed." So it is said. Gentle and subdued behavior, thereby tasting the taste of the virtues of the holy ones, is like a goose relying on a श्रेष्ठ pond, and a bee tasting the essence of flowers. The behavior of constant companionship is amazing, grasping the guru's mind without weariness, and tasting the merits with the closeness of faith. Thus, faith is the door to opening the Dharma, one must prostrate and pray for blessings to the guru, and actions such as standing up and joining palms must be done. In the sacred Vinaya, it is also said: "As soon as you see the Khenpo, you should stand up from your seat." So it is said. If you sit indifferently, it is said in hundreds of scriptures that you will be reborn as a fly for five hundred lifetimes. Thus, do not look at the attitude of showing respect from the perspective of strength and weakness as in the world. In the commentary on the Ornament of Sutras, it is said: "Sending off and welcoming the guru and so on themselves have the benefit of having the marks of the wheel on their hands and feet." Because it is only for one's own benefit, and there is no reliance on the guru at all. Therefore, without hypocrisy towards faith and respect, focusing only on liberation and the state of omniscience, one should respect the guru, serve, be diligent, make offerings, not forget, inquire about illness, provide medicine, and make portraits. The scriptures summarize from the whole. For the guru, one should offer one's body to prostrate, circumambulate, offer incense, flowers, lamps, etc. as external offerings, the Tsokyi Khorlo etc. as internal offerings, realization, meditation, wisdom, writing treatises etc. are actual offerings, protecting obstacles such as fire, water, weapons, poison, wild animals, and the borders of countries and subordinate areas.
