Transformation When residing in a secluded mountain, there was a powerful and wicked king in that area who favored non-Buddhists. One auspicious day, the king was surrounded by ministers and subjects, enjoying a recreational feast in the garden. The king said, "Today is a delightful occasion and an auspicious time. During this unprecedented joyous feast, we must devise a special activity. Let each of you, ministers and subjects, express your desires." Some suggested that worshiping the gods of the sky would be good, others suggested that singing, dancing, and playing games would be good, and still others suggested that launching a war against another country to seize power would be good. After various suggestions, everyone unanimously agreed that destroying the Buddha's teachings would be good. At that moment, a dakini prophesied to the Pandit that if the wicked king was not killed that very day, great harm would certainly befall the Buddha's teachings. Therefore, the Pandit initiated the action of wrathful deities through the samadhi of Yamaraja, the Lord of Death. In the place where the king and ministers were gathered, a terrifying wild bull appeared from nowhere and pierced the belly of the wicked king with its horns, killing him. The ministers who hated the Dharma were also killed, and everyone fled in terror. The karmic result of that is that he now often experiences stomach pains. At that time, the Pandit was very close friends with Gangwa Pel, and Gangwa Pel's reincarnation was Lithang Geshe Jampa Phuntsok. When he visited him that year, he was very pleased and listened to some stories, which were clearly imprints from his previous life. It is said that he clearly remembered these things. Such wondrous recollections of past lives seemed to persist, but he would never speak of them except for occasional marvelous experiences when he was in a clear and joyful state of mind. He was not often heard speaking of them to others, and even if he did say a few scattered fragments, they were not recorded with certainty. Similarly, he seemed to often see visions of pure lands and places, but what is certain is that he told Pandit Mipham Rinpoche that once he saw a desolate plain that would take six months to traverse.

After passing through the mountain cave for a long time, one arrives at the entrance to the smaller Shambhala, the secret rocky enclosure to the south, said to have millions of inhabitants. The people there live long lives through the power of elixirs. In that place where the terma teachings of Padma Lingpa flourish, there was once a yogi who was a disciple in the lineage of Guru Padmasambhava, called Tongku Lama in the local language, from whom I received the empowerment and transmission of Vajrasattva, the mandala of the five families. That lama also showed me a temple taken from the smaller Shambhala, made of sandalwood, in which thousands of images of Vajrasattva were enshrined. He also showed the path to the smaller Shambhala, where water flows from a rock cave. This place, the rocky enclosure, has millions of inhabitants. From here, going north along a difficult path, one reaches the smaller Shambhala, the precipitous enclosure, said to have hundreds of millions of inhabitants. What the Bonpos call Olmo Lung is also there, but the Bonpos do not have an accurate history. Many accomplished yogis reside there. If one goes further north from there, one reaches the greater Shambhala, which has walls of snow and is said to have countless inhabitants, a real experience. There, the path to go, the layout of the place, the expression of that lama, etc., were as clear as a daytime vision, and I heard him say, "It is like this and this," with a mind full of wonder. Also, once in a dream, the Lord himself was sitting in a palace in Samye as a king. In a wide space on the right, someone said, "A ladder needs to be built for the arrival of Guru Padmasambhava," and a few people struggled to erect a frame ladder that pierced the sky. A very large crowd surrounded it, making noise and commotion, but because the wood was too short to reach the top, and too heavy to bear, etc., it did not help the ladder itself. There, a majestic person was standing who said, "These people are erecting a ladder for the arrival of Guru Padmasambhava," making a great noise, but he said, "Apart from Chokgyur Lingpa, Kongtrul, and yourself, no one can erect this great ladder," and he said that there was a great meaning in this. In general, such dreams are only mentioned occasionally when necessary, but usually, it is never the custom to give teachings about them.
