When residing in such a place, on the empty day of the third month, clean the dwelling and arrange the supports of body, speech, and mind. Set up the mandala and offerings. After striking the ghanta, the Sangha gathers and performs the Uposatha. If they do not know, they recite whatever scripture is appropriate. Arrange the recitations. Recite the aspiration prayer and conclude, which is the practice. On this day, one tea offering is made for the Uposatha ritual. During the arrangement of recitations, one tea offering is made, totaling two. On the 1st of the fourth month, when dawn breaks and the calendar is seen, after striking the ghanta, they gather and take off their shoes outside the door. Perform the five-limbed ablution well. After entering, prostrate before the supports and then sit squatting to take vows. Then, according to the order of seniority, sit in rows and in the morning recite extensive scriptures, and the ritual is also recited slowly and extensively. At the end, recite whichever of the three aspiration prayers is appropriate. At noon, during the midday meal, remember the Three Jewels. Offer pure water. Make extensive tea offerings. After the midday meal based on the three white foods is finished, dedicate the leftovers. Recite profound scriptures and dedication prayers, etc., as appropriate. In the afternoon, the first of the two sessions is medium in length, and the second is brief. Recite the three aspiration prayers, etc., extensively according to the time of day. In the morning, during the scripture recitation, one tea offering is made. Four tea offerings are made for the ritual. In the afternoon, five tea offerings are made for the two ritual sessions. One tea offering is made for the aspiration prayer, totaling twelve tea offerings each day. After tea and the midday meal, everyone washes their hands. That is, wash hands with the water vase and rinsing bowl of the Karma Vajra, etc., and it is not sufficient to merely make a gesture. When returning from washing hands, wash hands at the door. Only one seat is allowed for the midday meal, and eating in the morning, etc., is not allowed. After washing hands after the last tea in the afternoon, abstaining from food and drink is the single-day fast. On the 2nd, after dawn, gathering and taking vows, etc., all the recitations are the same. On this day, silence is strictly observed. There is no fault in spitting or if food enters the stomach without the thought of food arising. When pouring water from the vase, pour it on the crown of the head, and rinse the remainder in the washbasin, without drinking it. However, if there is no desire to quench thirst, there is no fault in drinking it. If speech is lost, immediately go outside and perform the five-limbed ablution. During recitations, do not be interrupted by sleep or yawning, etc., and be very diligent and careful.

So be it! On the 3rd, after the dawn breaks, it feels like very thin tsampa porridge, warm and gentle. After drinking a bowl, break the silence, take vows, and practice Dharma like a solitary retreat. In this way, alternate between solitary and combined practices, and after six sessions, the main practice must be fixed on the 15th. Therefore, in the seventh session, both the 13th are solitary practices, and the 15th is a combined practice. On the 18th, there is no need to take vows. After breaking the silence, perform one ritual for the sake of completing the subsequent rituals, and make extensive prayers. Recite A three times. On the 19th, arrange offerings as much as possible in front of the sacred objects. When the Sangha gathers and recites various Dharma practices, offer tea. The attendant offers a khatag to the sacred objects and places offerings for the practitioners in front. Hold a grand feast with delicious food such as rice, fruits, or ginseng fruits. Extensively recite dedications, prayers, and auspicious words, and dissolve the mandala. This is enjoying the feast of the arrival of the noble ones. As an example, even for a single fasting retreat, the first day is preparation, the second day is solitary practice, the third day is combined practice, and the fourth day is the subsequent ritual. On the fifth day, hold the feast of the arrival of the noble ones, that is, every five days. The solitary and combined practices each have three rituals, plus one subsequent ritual, making a total of seven rituals to be performed. This is written according to the words of qualified wise and accomplished beings such as Jodan Khenchen Sonam Zangpo and Muschen Great Bodhisattva. May there be auspiciousness! The arrangement of offerings is as follows: With the thangka of Eleven-faced Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed surrounded by the four classes of beings as the main object, in the center of the offering table in front of the sacred objects of body, speech, and mind, draw an eight-petaled lotus mandala with colored powders. The center is white, the east is blue, the south is yellow, the west is red, and the north is green. The four corners are decorated with beautiful colors. On each moon cushion, place a white colored powder pile in the center, blue in the east, yellow in the south, white in the west, and green in the north, and place it on the offering table. In front of it, arrange two rows of white, round tormas. Place boundary-marking flowers in the northeast. Starting with offering water in the east, arrange two sets of preliminary offerings, as well as butter lamps and three sets of food. Outside of that, arrange special offerings, that is, the five offerings, or incense, butter lamps, food, etc., two sets in the east, and one set in each of the other directions, making a total of five sets. Replace the special offerings after each ritual. It is best if you can do it, but if you cannot, then make common offerings.
