And the earth! Carried to play by great wisdom. If you realize this, then with the Lama, you will never be separated. When mind and heart blend into one, you will surely attain supreme accomplishment. In short, when practicing according to the Dharma, adverse conditions will never arise, and with favorable conditions perfectly complete, both aims will be spontaneously accomplished. Here, I, an old renunciate resting under the compassionate protection of the Protector, am constantly burdened by the discomfort of the elements, enduring it as my own. I shrink into a small room for contemplation, with a weak mind and limited resources, bound by the name of retreat. I report on my retreat: Your arrival in the east, including Tiphuk (place in Bhutan), has left auspicious footprints, connecting with beings in a meaningful way, your activities as vast as the sky. Now, you have entered a Dharma school blessed by immortal siddhas, manifesting the miracle of gathering a pure realm where Yeshe Gonpo (Wisdom Protector) fully plays, fulfilling the wishes of the holy ones. Your kindness is beyond comprehension. Last year, during the Dege (place in Sichuan) period, the collective karma of sentient beings was difficult to reverse, especially the thoughts and actions of beings in this degenerate age, like the dance of madmen, were beyond remedy. The unbearable changes of seasons, like the moon, and the invasion of barbarians destroying the remnants of the teachings, were disheartening, but also beyond remedy. Even if there were some beneficial actions, they were controlled by those who sow discord, like a butter lamp near the open mouth of a venomous snake. Nevertheless, the aspiration of the holy beings is immeasurable, so before the two Jowo Rinpoches (statues of Jowo Shakyamuni in Lhasa's Jokhang and Jowo Mikyo Dorje in Ramoche Temple) and other sacred objects, I pray that the teachings will be extended for the next five hundred years.
