Becoming the Buddha of the land. Having understood this, with sincere and unfeigned devotion to all beings seen, one should practice prostrations, offerings, and receiving their teachings, etc., like a vast ocean of great conduct. Third, there are four kinds of profound views: the yoga of emptiness, the yoga of equality, the yoga of the inexpressible, and the yoga of non-discrimination. The first has two aspects: abiding and subsequent attainment. The first has two aspects: cultivating tranquility and seeking insight. The first has three aspects: the equality of mind, the abiding of mind, and the entering into spontaneous accomplishment of mind. The first is: initially, during the day, one should equally settle the mind on the present appearances, without letting it wander elsewhere. This is the time of merely settling the mind equally at the beginning. At night, one should contemplate on one's own mind. After becoming slightly accustomed, one should mainly settle equally on the mind. As the Ornament of the Sutras says: 'For settling the mind on the mind.' And as it says in the same text: 'For settling equally on oneself.' And so on, it is said. Second, the abiding of mind is: in order to prevent sinking and excitement from arising, one should establish something like a guard post of mindfulness and awareness. Because at that time, there is fear of sinking and excitement arising. Third, entering into spontaneous accomplishment is: thus, by guarding with reverence and constant yoga, when there is no need to rely on mindfulness and awareness, and the continuum of mind abides without distraction, it is spontaneous accomplishment. Thus, it is the perfection of tranquility. Therefore, until the measure and signs of tranquility have not arisen, one should practice in this way. Among these, the measure is: the object of focus to which one has entrusted arises in the mind, and nothing else arises, and it arises whenever one wants it to arise, and it lasts as long as one wants it to last, until the aggregates of life have not perished, it is taken as the basis. There are two kinds of signs. The inner sign, definitely, is the spontaneous accomplishment of mind. The outer sign is: the body is without movement, very light, and bliss, etc., spontaneously accomplish. Second, insight is: if this clarity is not examined, it will be lost.
