From this arises abiding. In any case, if many thoughts arise like a runaway horse, relax and release the thoughts onto themselves, and hold them with mindfulness. In this way, no matter how thoughts arise, they will become the support for maintaining the mind, and the effortless arising of calm abiding will occur. Therefore, alternate between tightening and loosening. Keep mindfulness and awareness in their natural state. While appearances are uninterrupted, abide in detachment from grasping and conceptualizing objects. When thoughts arise, due to the continuous presence of mindfulness, let the thoughts naturally dissolve. By practicing in this way, even in situations where the meditation experience is disrupted or when arising from samadhi, let awareness be slow and relaxed. If a state of clarity and non-conceptuality arises, where awareness is not intentionally directed towards objects, but is blankly cut off from them, then calm abiding has arisen. From that point on, the bliss of physical and mental pliancy will gradually arise, so practice until pliancy and unwavering calm abiding become stable. Second, seeking insight: In such a state of calm abiding, thoughts arise and cease, and when the mind naturally abides, the state of abiding resembles its own nature. Whether it is existence or non-existence, reality or unreality, shape, color, one or many, etc., examine and analyze them well. Do not just look at examples or listen to the words of others, but let the flowing conceptual thoughts dissolve into abiding. The nature of abiding itself is appearance without inherent existence, clarity without grasping, and naked awareness that cannot be expressed while being experienced. This is insight. Because the nature is seen, it should be recognized. Third, recognizing union: Although calm abiding and insight are different in words, in reality they are distinguishing different aspects of the same essence. When the mind naturally and relaxed abides, conceptual thoughts naturally subside and abide in a non-conceptual state, this is calm abiding. Looking at its essence, it cannot be described in words, cannot be thought of in the mind, cannot be analyzed with wisdom, and cannot be expressed in language. Although there is no grasping, the clear and uninterrupted awareness is vivid, fresh, and naked. Although it has not been seen, there is a capacity to see; although it has not been experienced, there is a capacity to experience, but it cannot be called "this," this is insight. Since these two are not different in essence, the characteristics of the mind are each...

Abiding without altering the nature of wisdom is the union of Shamatha and Vipashyana. In short, emptiness, where the mind has no fixation, is the nature of the mind. Luminosity, where anything arises even though it is nonexistent, is the characteristic of the mind. Naked awareness, where emptiness and luminosity are inseparable, is the essence of the unconditioned mind, the heart of the Buddhas, the mind of sentient beings. It does not transcend the reality of existence and nonexistence, and is therefore called the Great Seal of Coemergent Wisdom. Such a reality, although naturally present from the beginning, is obscured by conceptual thoughts, and one wanders in samsara without recognizing it. Now, through the oral instructions of the Guru, the movement of conceptual thoughts is suppressed by Shamatha, and the essence of the mind is sought by Vipashyana. By introducing the union of Shamatha and Vipashyana in an instant of awareness, one is united without duality with that naturally occurring reality, hence it is called the Great Seal of Coemergent Union's Oral Instruction. Third, the Post-Meditation: After recognizing it in this way, at all times, diligently practice the yoga of the continuous stream of Samadhi of the union of Shamatha and Vipashyana, like sprouts growing in summer, experiences and realizations will arise. The more experiences and realizations arise in the mind, the weaker the afflictions become, renunciation arises effortlessly, compassion increases impartially, devotion burns uncontrollably, and knowing that emptiness is cause and effect, and cause and effect are interdependent, all obstacles and deviations are liberated in their own place, and the benefit of oneself and others is spontaneously accomplished. In detail, according to the order in which one's own experiences arise, one should consult with a qualified Guru who is distinguished by experience and realization, and he will also give introductions, dispel obstacles, and give teachings to increase strength, and by relying on this one-pointed diligence, one will surely perfect the qualities of the stages and paths. Adorned with the experience of accomplished ones who have come from the wise, endowed with the lineage of blessings of practice, by the virtuous deeds of summarizing the essential instructions, may all beings pervading space attain supreme wisdom! Thus, the Great Seal of Profound Clarity of the tradition of the omniscient Bodongpa, and the guiding sequence of Coemergent Union, the sayings of the omniscient Immortal Lord, and the Guru
