Through practice, understanding that this life, whether happy or painful, is only temporary, and understanding that the next life is extremely long, one must generate an unadulterated thought of abandoning what is harmful to the next life and accomplishing what is beneficial to the next life. If this thought is not generated, then no matter how much profound Dharma is practiced, it will only be for the sake of this life. Second, by meditating with the faults of karma and samsara definitely in mind, seeing all of samsara from the peak of existence down as a pit of fire, one must generate an unadulterated mind of seeking liberation. If this mind is not generated, then no matter how much profound Dharma is practiced, it will not turn into the path of liberation. Third, by keeping the guidance of love and compassion definitely in mind, one must abandon the thought of seeking peace and happiness for oneself alone. If this thought is not abandoned, then no matter how much profound Dharma is practiced, it will turn into the path of the Lesser Vehicle. Fourth, remembering the kindness of all sentient beings, and with the strength of being unable to bear suffering, one must generate an unadulterated mind of wanting to attain perfect enlightenment for the sake of sentient beings. If this mind is not generated, then no matter how much profound Dharma is practiced, it will not go on the path of the Great Vehicle. Second, the uncommon preliminaries are three: the guidance of Vajrasattva for the branch of purifying obstacles and sins; the guidance of the mandala for the sake of accumulating favorable conditions and merit; the guidance of guru yoga for the sake of the inseparability of accumulation and purification. First, through properly practicing the meditation and recitation of the hundred-syllable mantra, one must purify the gross manifest obstacles and obscurations. Because the guidance of the main practice will not arise in a mindstream obscured by powerful sins. Second, through practicing the yoga of the mandala and so on, one must accumulate a vast amount of merit. Because the guidance of the main practice will not arise in a mindstream where merit has not been accumulated. Third, through properly practicing guru yoga, one must generate uncommon devotion. If devotion does not moisten the mindstream, then the guidance of the main practice will not arise in the mindstream. Therefore, in practicing these: First, sit comfortably in the vajra posture on a comfortable seat. Straighten each part of the body.

Perform the exhalation in nine stages. Settle the consciousness. Then, clearly establish the objects of refuge and take refuge. With the generation of Bodhicitta and the cultivation of the four immeasurables as preliminary practices, visualize Vajrasattva, father and mother, arising with the three syllables (Oṃ, Āḥ, Hūṃ) on your crown. Clearly visualize the mantra chains on the wheels of both. Through the key of possessing the four powers, recite the hundred-syllable mantra. Finally, after confession and vows, dissolve Vajrasattva into yourself. The second is: In the sky in front, at the center of the wish-fulfilling tree, on the lion throne, lotus, sun and moon, and vajra seat, visualize the Guru Manjushri Vajra, presenting three faces of yellow, blue, and white, and six hands, the first two hands embracing the consort who resembles oneself, the remaining right hands holding a sword and an arrow, the left hands holding a blue lotus and a bow, abiding in the vajra posture, and adorned with silk and jewels, marked at the four places with white Oṃ (藏文:ཨོ་,梵文天城体:ओ,梵文罗马拟音:o,汉语字面意思:Om), red Āḥ (藏文:ཨཱ,梵文天城体:आ,梵文罗马拟音:ā,汉语字面意思:Ah), blue Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Hum), and green Hoḥ (藏文:ཧོཿ,梵文天城体:होः,梵文罗马拟音:hoḥ,汉语字面意思:Hoh) respectively, visualize as the collection of all refuge objects. With the offering of the five desirable qualities as a preliminary practice, offer the seven-part mandala as usual. After taking refuge in the Three Jewels, take the common precepts, and finally dissolve into yourself. The third is: Clearly visualize the yoga of Guru Manjushri Vajra as before, and offer offerings and mandala in front of him. Take the common precepts, and the special precepts of all Buddhas including all the Buddha's sons. Pray to the root and lineage gurus with strong devotion and longing. After receiving the four empowerments, Dissolve the Guru father and mother into yourself. Mix your own mind with the Guru's mind as one taste, and rest in the state of profound, clear, and undifferentiated "Mahamudra". Secondly, the main practice of yoga has three parts: searching for the flaws of delusion and meditating on the appearance of non-samsara; the method of practicing the clear view; and the method of practicing the profound view. The first includes two parts: preliminary and main practice. First, for beginners, adjusting the body posture is extremely important. Because meditation is practiced through the mind, and the mind relies on the breath, and the breath relies on the body. If the body is unstable, the mind cannot be stable either. Therefore, sit in the vajra posture with legs crossed, make the meditation mudra with hands, straighten the spine, bend the neck slightly, and keep the tongue and lips in a natural state.
