Generating the yoga of uniting the two, I aspire to the profound meaning of the generation and completion stages of Mahayoga. Although there are many views on initiating, distinguishing, and summarizing these five stages, in the concise explanation of the five stages by Nagarjuna, the Vajra recitation (Skt: vajra japa) is the first, focusing on the mind (Skt: citta lakṣya) is the second, the illusory body is the third, the clear light is the fourth, and the union (Skt: yuganaddha) is the fifth. Je Trinle Zhap said that these five are the most famous. The three isolations are: body isolation, which is the samadhi of the body vajra; speech isolation, which is the samadhi of the speech vajra; and mind isolation, which is the samadhi of the mind vajra. These are also the ultimate meaning. In the Compendium of Practices, it says: "Starting from the generation stage, up to the ultimate state of complete isolation of the body, one merely has more faith in the characteristics of the three vajras, etc. Therefore, in the complete isolation of the body, there is no form of a deity, because the body does not even have the accumulation of minute particles. The ultimate state of complete isolation of awareness is also the complete understanding of the vajra recitation through stages such as absorption. There is also no form of a deity there, because all sounds are like echoes in a valley. The ultimate state of complete isolation of mind is also merely the complete understanding of the naturally occurring luminosity. There, one will not attain the nature of a deity's body that possesses all the best of everything, because the mind is merely luminosity. By this reasoning, one will not attain a dwelling by relying on the conventional. Therefore, one should understand from the master's mouth that one's own mind is generated as the deity of the deity in the state of merely gathering the ordinary appearances and attachments of wisdom into clear light." As it is said, after the completion of the three isolations, one should study the completion stages of each of the two truths, and the completion stage of the union of the two truths. First, the completion stage of the conventional illusion is: For sentient beings, the extremely subtle wind and mind that are inherent are the basis for accomplishing the illusory body. A yogi who is skilled in means will manifest this as an illusory body and attain Buddhahood. In the Five Stages, it says: "All beings are without self-control, and do not arise independently. Its cause is clear light, and all clear light is emptiness. With what mind does a child

etc. Sentient beings bound by the bonds of samsara, yogis of the mind itself, will go to the realm of the Sugatas. Thus it is said. In short, all sentient beings' birth, death, and abiding, together with the bardo, are the magical displays of the extremely subtle wind-mind of one's own continuum. It is said that these two, the extremely subtle wind and mind, go to various good and bad places. As it is said in the Vajra Garland: Birth and abiding and destruction, and existence in the intermediate state, as the world is bound, are the magical displays of the wind of the mind. As it is said. The coarse body is like a body in hot water, and the subtle body is like the innate body of water's moisture. Of these two, the latter is the basis for the accomplishment of the illusory body. With this illusory body, one directly sees that the innate body of all sentient beings is also like one's own illusory body, and one sees that all of the container and its contents are merely the magical displays of one's own wind-mind. As it is said in the Five Stages: Therefore, in this way, all beings are said to be like illusions. Abiding in the samadhi of illusion, all are seen to be like that. Thus it is said. These illusory bodies also arise simultaneously with the cessation of the ultimate example luminosity, the arising of the reverse order of attainment, and the actual establishment of the impure illusory body. Such a body is symbolically explained by representing it with twelve examples of illusions. The twelve examples are: illusion, moon in water, cataract, mirage, dream, echo, city of gandharvas, optical illusion, rainbow, lightning, bubble, and the reflection of a heruka in a mirror. Among these, the illusory body appears to have the form of a face and hands, but it is empty of flesh, bones, and other substantial matter, so it is like an illusion 1. The sambhogakaya is one, but it manifests many emanations in the places where there are beings to be tamed, so it is like the moon in water 2. The illusory body cannot be cut or destroyed by swords or other weapons, so it is like a cataract, that is, a shadow 3. The illusory body is unstable and of a moving nature, so it is like a mirage. The illusory body arises from the wind-mind of the ultimate example luminosity, which is the basis of practice, the emptiness of mind, like separating clothes from an old body and then re-entering the old body, so it is like a dream.
