Etymologically, it becomes the support for obtaining the qualities of superiors. Since that very ground is the basis of qualities, it is called "ground." Thirdly, in terms of classification, there are generally the classifications of the Lesser Vehicle and the Great Vehicle. Within the Great Vehicle, there are also the grounds of ordinary beings and noble ones. Here, what is relevant is the ground of the Great Vehicle's noble ones, which has two types: the ground of learners and the ground of non-learners. The first is the ten grounds, starting with the Joyful Ground. If we explain their characteristics and meanings in conjunction: Having perfected the perfection of generosity, abandoning the causes and effects of miserliness is the characteristic of the first ground. At that time, because one sees the nature of reality that was previously unseen, one approaches enlightenment, and because one sees the accomplishment of vast benefit for sentient beings, a special joy arises, therefore it is called the Joyful Ground. Having perfected the perfection of ethics, abandoning the causes and effects of moral corruption is the characteristic of the second ground. At that time, there is not even the slightest stain of moral corruption even in dreams, therefore it is called the Stainless Ground. Having perfected the perfection of patience, abandoning the causes and effects of anger is the characteristic of the third ground. At that time, because there is immeasurable light of transcendent wisdom, it is called the Illuminating Ground. Having perfected the perfection of diligence, abandoning the causes and effects of laziness is the characteristic of the fourth ground. At that time, the light of the Dharma of the aspects of enlightenment is extremely radiant, capable of burning all the fuel of afflictions, therefore it is called the Radiant Wisdom Ground. Having perfected the perfection of meditation, abandoning the causes and effects of distraction is the characteristic of the fifth ground. At that time, the benefit of sentient beings is also continuous, and one's own nature does not decline from non-conceptual wisdom. Because practicing these two in conjunction is very difficult, it is called the Difficult to Train Ground. Having perfected the perfection of wisdom, abandoning the causes and effects of corrupted wisdom is the characteristic of the sixth ground. At that time, with discriminating wisdom, one directly sees all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana, therefore it is called the Manifest Ground. Having perfected the perfection of skillful means, abandoning the causes and effects of unskillful means is the characteristic of the seventh ground. At that time, because it is close to the eighth ground, which is the path of a single going, and regarding samsara and nirvana

Because it has gone beyond the limits of the ground, it is called going far. The perfection of the power of paramita, abandoning the cause and effect that obstruct power, is the characteristic of the eighth ground. At that time, whether in meditation or post-meditation, it is completely non-conceptual wisdom, transcending the characteristics of phenomena, and because it does not require diligence and is naturally effortless, it is called the Immovable Ground. Regarding this aspiration paramita, some say that the eighth ground is aspiration, and the ninth ground is the perfection of the power paramita. Note: After perfection, abandoning the cause and effect of the inability to achieve what is desired is the characteristic of the ninth ground. At that time, because it possesses the perfect wisdom of mastering the four analytical knowledges, it is called the Ground of Good Intelligence. After the perfection of the wisdom paramita, abandoning the cause and effect of the obscuration of knowledge is the characteristic of the tenth ground. At that time, from the clouds of samadhi and dharani, one can rain down the Dharma rain in infinite worlds in accordance with the capacity of each being to be tamed, so it is called the Cloud of Dharma Ground. It can also be divided into, from the first ground to the seventh ground are called the impure seven grounds, because they have the defilement of clinging to meditation and post-meditation as separate entities. From the eighth ground to the tenth ground are called the pure three grounds, because they have transcended the defilement of clinging to separate entities. Such paths and grounds are also based on the ultimate bodhicitta, cultivating prajna emptiness as the proximate cause, with skillful means and great compassion as the co-occurring condition, and achieving the five paths. Relying on the conventional bodhicitta, with skillful means and compassion as the proximate cause, and prajna emptiness as the co-occurring condition, one obtains the ten grounds. When one becomes a Buddha, the ultimate path is the Dharmakaya, and the ultimate ground is the Rupakaya. The second is the Ground of No More Learning: The nature of abandoning and perfect wisdom reaching the ultimate is the characteristic of the Buddha Ground. Its name is the Eleventh Ground of Universal Light. Because many rays of light emanate from the body, maturing those to be tamed, and the language is the same as the light of the sacred Dharma, illuminating the path of higher realms and definite goodness, becoming the sole teacher, it is called the Ground of Universal Light. Note: If classified, the support is the three bodies, the dependent is the four wisdoms, qualities and activities.
