Etc. All dharmas aim at understanding the meaning of the two truths. With the power of faith, one trusts in the truths; with diligence, one rejoices in order to realize the truths; with mindfulness, one does not forget the object; with samadhi, one applies the mind single-pointedly to the object; and with wisdom, one cultivates by knowing the nature of the truths as they are, thereby gaining power to manifest the truths, hence they are called roots. The five powers are: Because of the habitual practice of the roots of faith, etc., the opposing sides of each, such as disbelief, laziness, forgetfulness, distraction, non-awareness, etc., cannot interrupt even slightly, therefore there are the five powers of faith, etc. The method of cultivation is the same as before. The benefits of these are: Having attained the peak, the roots of virtue are continuous; having attained forbearance, one will not fall into the lower realms, etc. The reason for surpassing the great accumulation path is being close to the path of seeing, and the heat of wisdom becoming stable, etc. Third, the path of seeing also has three aspects. First, the definition is: The wisdom that newly realizes the directly perceived selflessness is the definition of the path of seeing. Second, the meaning of the term is: Derived from the Sanskrit word dānana-mārga, because one first sees the realm of dharma that was not seen before, it is "seeing"; because it is the entrance to liberation, it is "path"; the realization of the truths and ascertainment are synonymous. Third, the classification is: From the perspective of the essence, there are sixteen moments, namely, for each of the four truths, there are dharma-kṣānti, dharma-jñāna, anvaya-kṣānti, anvaya-jñāna, divided into four each. Among them, dharma-jñāna-kṣānti is the abandonment of the obscurations to be abandoned by seeing, aimed at the paths. Dharma-jñāna is experiencing liberation even after abandoning the obscurations. Anvaya-jñāna-kṣānti is realizing the first two moments as the cause of the noble dharmas. Anvaya-jñāna is ascertaining and experiencing it in the manner of self-awareness. These Śrāvakayāna Vaibhāṣikas believe that sixteen moments arise, etc., and some common Mahāyāna schools also believe that they arise variously from sixteen to one, while the uncommon Mahāyāna schools

According to Napa, the sutra says, "Obtaining forbearance of the unarisen dharma." Therefore, it is not actually accepted that the path of seeing arises, but considering only dependent origination in conventional truth, the statement of the arising of the path of seeing is made. Differentiating from the perspective of what is to be abandoned, the conceptually imputed afflictive obscurations and the coarse apprehended object and apprehending subject of the cognitive obscurations are abandoned by the path of seeing. To abandon these, the four dharma-forbearances are the path of immediate consequence, the four dharma-knowledges are the path of liberation as an antidote, and the four subsequent-forbearances and four subsequent-knowledges are the special antidote path of extending the rope, which are abandoned in the manner of eradicating the root. Differentiating from the perspective of the basis, the path of seeing becomes a limb of the stainless enlightenment, therefore it is called the seven limbs of enlightenment. Among these, discrimination of dharma is both the main one and also a limb. The other six, being its companions, are therefore called the seven limbs. Among these, mindfulness is not forgetting the object, it is the place of wisdom. Discrimination of dharma is the wisdom that distinguishes the characteristics of the four truths of the Great Vehicle, the dharma-forbearance, dharma-knowledge, subsequent-forbearance, subsequent-knowledge, and their retinue, which are focused on, and is the limb of self-nature. Effort is based on entering with joy into its self-nature, therefore it will definitely be liberated from the state of an ordinary being and transcend it, therefore it is the limb of determination. Joy is the joy of seeing the first ground, which benefits and satisfies body and mind, it is the limb of benefit. Pliancy is the fitness of body and mind, which can be used as desired, it is the basis of non-affliction. Samadhi is one-pointedness of mind on the object, therefore it is the place of non-affliction. Equanimity is the pacification in itself of the faults of agitation and dullness, which are the turbidity of mind and mental factors, it is the nature of non-affliction. Therefore, these three are called the limbs of non-affliction. From the perspective of the ground, when the supramundane wisdom is first produced, the abandonments of one's own share are abandoned, and the two selflessnesses are directly realized, therefore it is close to enlightenment, and it is seen to accomplish the benefit of others.
