Because it is associated with the state of omniscience, it is of excellent meaning. Because it transcends the realm of refutation and establishment of erroneous perceptions about it, its words and phrases are excellent. Because it shows the entry of the order of faculties and the methods of taming without mixing them, it completely and without error shows the methods of fulfilling all the hopes of the lower, middle, and upper classes, so it is complete. Because it becomes the antidote to all afflictions and habitual tendencies, it is without disease. It quickly leads to liberation, and in order to constantly tame beings, as a teacher, there is no time limit. Contrary to the scriptures examined by external factions that increase the cause and effect of existence, it bestows the fruit of liberation as soon as one enters, so seeing it is meaningful. It will surely be liberated from the ocean of suffering, so it is approaching. Those who speculate cannot examine it, and because it has become the share of wise men with inconceivable realms, it is to be known by each individual. It has such a definition. The third is, in the commentary on the Eight Thousand Verses, it says: 'Sutra Pitaka, songs of praise, prophecies, verses, reasons, stories of origin, accounts of events, Jataka tales, the extraordinary, and definitive statements are the twelve branches of the teachings.' This is the distinction. If summarized, they are gathered into the three precious collections of the Tripitaka. As it is also said in the Vinayavibhanga: 'The Sutra Pitaka and the songs of praise, the prophecies and the verses, the reasons, these five are gathered into the Sutra Pitaka. The stories of origin and the parables, the accounts of events that have occurred, the Jataka tales, these four are gathered into the Vinaya Pitaka. The extraordinary and the definitive statements, these three are gathered into the Abhidhamma Pitaka.' Thus. Furthermore, from the perspective of what is to be expressed, there are the three trainings, and from the perspective of what expresses, there are the three Pitakas. The first is, in the Letter to a Friend, it says: 'Higher training in discipline, higher training in wisdom, and higher training in mind, one should always train in these. Even one hundred and fifty or more trainings are completely gathered within these three.' Thus, the main subject of the Vinaya Pitaka is to teach the training of discipline, which is the Mahayana Sutra.
