Called "Elimination." Homage to the venerable lama and glorious Vajrasattva! Why? Because with what, where, and how does one meditate? Eliminate signs and qualities, obstacles, hindrances, and faults. Knowing these and becoming familiar with them, one attains enlightenment. Without hearing, without practice, one does not achieve or is delayed. First, why meditate? It is the duality of grasper and grasped. Without abandoning, without meditating as is, the yogi, Even if one does not make prostrations, offerings, confessions, or generosity, Knowing these and becoming familiar with them, one attains enlightenment. Merit increases, but wisdom does not become complete. Second, with what? One endowed with yoga, Learned, diligent, and abiding in the vows of enlightenment, With offerings and generosity, delighting in the mind of enlightenment, This is a vessel of the great secret vehicle, one should meditate. Third, where? In one's own mind. As it is, without alteration, primordially pure, Free from elaboration, abandoning the extremes of existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation. In this, without distraction, one should constantly abide. Fourth, how to meditate? The object of meditation and The meditator are non-dual in one's own nature, Nothing at all, yet clearly and brightly appearing, Without the thoughts of sinking and scattering elaboration, one should meditate. Fifth, its signs, for the diligent yogi, First, sleep and desire become less. Then gradually Dreams, light, and so on, Just as thoughts, also showing miraculous forms. Sixth, its qualities, those who think and speak, Directly seeing long life, healing diseases, And eliminating hindrances, many qualities arise. Thus gradually entering the path to enlightenment. Seventh, obstacles and hindrances are, the yogi, Abandoning the place, seeking a place, wanting to go elsewhere, Harmful spirits and outsiders wanting to go elsewhere, Entering the yogic mind and throwing to another place. If the yogi meditates and occupies the place, During the period of silence, others enter within and, Going out, pride, fame, desire, thirst, seeking food and wealth, Hungry ghosts, those with desire, demons enter their mind. If the yogi's mind is disturbed, wanting to fight, Scolding the retinue and cursing others, The lord of the spirits, Yaksha Kumbhanda, Enters the heart of that practitioner. If the yogi is lazy and fond of sleep, Craving food and drink and not diligent in recitation, Gluttony, sleep, diligence, laziness, called, Entering the yogic mind and abiding. If the yogi's own enjoyment is the cause, Utensils

Now, guarding the fields and planting, not circling the protective wheel, desiring to accumulate and wanting to send it elsewhere, the mind enters into what is called "Yakṣa Guardian of Wealth." If a yogi is attached to parents, siblings, and relatives, and thus performs prayers, rituals, and protections, due to the uncleared co-emergent imprints, without abandoning afflictions, Buddhahood will be distant. If a yogi is skilled in astrology and calculates the auspiciousness of times and years, because this contradicts the non-discriminating equality, attaining enlightenment will be extremely difficult. Reversal. If a yogi's initial realization is great, but due to uneven practice, praises oneself and disparages others, without abandoning afflictions, arrogance increases, one will fall back again, and Buddhahood will be distant. Reversal. If a yogi is said by others to cause harm in the past, present, and future, and generates hatred, using mantra to kill, due to the power of hatred, Buddhahood will be distant. If others offer and respect me, and speak many praises, and the mind is pleased by this, if there is partiality towards beings, due to attachment, this will also make the path to Buddhahood distant. If a yogi enjoys many retinues and lively gatherings, serving many like a king, because this is for benefit and fame, it will cause distraction from practice, and will make one very distant from the path to Buddhahood. Eighth, the method of eliminating faults is that if a yogi experiences obstacles and signs in the mind, think in this way to eliminate signs and conceptual thoughts. Whatever appears as phenomena is not other than the mind, the nature of the mind, the essence of Dharmata, good and bad, acceptance and rejection, desire and attachment, love and hatred, etc. If obstacles arise due to conceptual thoughts and ideas, observe the mind, and nothing will appear. Since nothing appears, where do the signs of mind and conceptual thoughts exist? Because of wrongly grasping the ego as a sign and clinging to the mind, therefore abandon all conceptual thoughts and abide in non-conceptualization. In the state of non-conceptualization, there is also no place to abide. If one abides in this way for a long time, the obstacles of conceptual thoughts will quickly subside, and thus one will meditate as it is, obstacles and mental conceptual thoughts will not arise, and one will quickly attain the fruit of Buddhahood. The treatise called "Eliminating the Obstacles of Conceptual Thoughts of a Yogi," written by the accomplished master and great scholar Sangye Sangwa, is completed. In Sanskrit: Loka Atita Sapaka Vidhi.
