Within quiescence, the very essence of the Great Seal of the Body is the heart essence. The Great Seal is the single-pointed samadhi of mind. The mandalas of mantras, with the commitment seal as the main one, are like the seals established in the law of the Chakravartin king, which cannot be transgressed. They are image seals that represent the conduct of great beings. The Dharma mandalas, with the Dharma seal as the main one, are secret mantras that accomplish secret siddhis through the method of mantra. In the Uttaratantra, it says: "It is not to be transgressed, and it is difficult to distinguish, it is secret. Because it is spoken to accomplish secrecy, it is called secret mantra." Its characteristic is that it is the secret of the Buddha's mind, and it accomplishes the heart essence of the Dharma. The etymology is that the letter is added to mantra. Āmantra (Sanskrit, āmantra, Romanized Sanskrit, calling) is calling, and Ucchāṭa (Sanskrit, ucchāṭa, Romanized Sanskrit, expelling) is immovable, that is, the mantra calls the deity and expels the malicious ones. In the Tsemor (Pinnacle Tantra), it says: "The characteristic of mantras is the mind of all Buddhas, it accomplishes the heart essence of the Dharma, and it is perfectly endowed with the Dharmadhatu. It is said to be the characteristic of mantra. Why is it called mantra? Secret mantras are callers, and they expel the malicious ones. They destroy the afflictive mantras, and they invite the Buddha Dharma." Thus it is said. Vidyā-mantra is the activity mandala, with the seals of all lineages as the main one. It destroys ignorance, and it accomplishes the supreme wisdom of speech, and because the four wisdoms are realized individually and correctly, it is Vidyā-mantra, which has the characteristic of pacifying suffering together with its cause. The etymology is that Vid (Sanskrit, vid, Romanized Sanskrit, knowing) is added to Vinaya (Sanskrit, vinaya, Romanized Sanskrit, taming), and Āvidma (Sanskrit, āvidma, Romanized Sanskrit, ignorance) is taming attachment and aversion, and because it repels ignorance, it is Vidyā-mantra. In the Uttaratantra, it says: "It destroys ignorance, and it accomplishes the supreme wisdom of speech. It is realized and is the siddhi of wisdom, therefore it is called wisdom." And in the Tsemor (Pinnacle Tantra), it says: "The characteristic of Vidyā-mantra is spoken of. It pacifies the suffering experienced in samsara, and the collection of faults such as desire, together with wisdom. The characteristic of Vidyā-mantra is spoken of. Why is it Vidyā-mantra?
