Among the four conducts, the first has two aspects: Vidya, which is the aspect of entrusting awareness by merely recalling the deity of mantra through recitation, and Anujna, which explains approaching the three secrets of whatever lineage through the three doors. Empowerment is what enables one to control all activities of that lineage. As stated in the Manjushri Root Tantra: "If there is no correct view, there is no effort in discipline; if one has not taken refuge, this Dharma does not belong to them; if one has not generated Bodhicitta, there is no Bodhisattva. Likewise, one should know that those who have not received Abhisheka have no right to use the term 'Mantra'." Therefore, it is necessary to proceed beforehand. The manner of taking vows is also as stated in the Three Samaya

Then, After forming the mudra, touch the crown of the head with the secret mantra. Those who can master the secret mantra tantra, the wise can bestow empowerment. Thus, the water empowerment is clearly stated. In the Mañjuśrī Root Tantra, it says: First, temporarily give empowerment, then bind the five great crest jewels. Thus, the mudra empowerment is spoken of, and this also implies the crown empowerment. Therefore, the empowerment of the Kriya Tantra itself is limited to this. In some rituals, like the Yoga Tantra, masters such as Padmasambhava Vajrakila also taught the granting of irreversible empowerments as appropriate. This is receiving empowerments and so on, which is the first entry. The second is to rely on asceticism, which has two aspects: classification and complete acceptance of the training. The first is: When the single-pointed intention of seeking vows is the aspiration mind, and not deviating from the objects of how to meditate, this is the vow of entering mind. Having obtained this vow, one possesses the discipline of a vidyādhara. For this purpose, in accordance with what is taught in the scriptures, in all activities, one performs the actions of the deity, and strives to learn not to be separated from the pride of a stable form, this is the vow of abiding bodhicitta. When this vow is obtained, one abides in asceticism. In this state, performing activities such as fire offerings, offerings, and tormas, is the vow of increasing bodhicitta. When this vow is obtained, one practices what is to be practiced. Therefore, the three vows of the stage of the ground of a mantra holder of the Kriya Tantra are definitely these. The stage of the result will be known from the explanation below. The second has three points: the vows to be learned, the sixteen root downfalls to be protected, and the explanation of how to remedy them if they are broken. The first point is: what is said with affirmative words and what is said with negative words. The first point is: to generate faith in the Three Jewels. 1. To have faith in the collection of secret mantras, vidyā mantras, and dhāraṇī mantras. The classification of these is: Teacher Jñānaśrī said, among them, the male deity is the secret mantra, the female is the vidyā mantra, and a single mantra itself can become the mantra of both male and female deities, that is the dhāraṇī mantra.

A single mantra contains all three, and a single deity also possesses all three mantras. Both vidya mantras and dharani mantras are also established as male and female deities, so it is not absolute. Thus it is said. Those are actually inseparable means and wisdom. The inseparable wisdom vajra, merely knowing that suchness, or the practitioner protecting beings, or saving the mind, so it is mantra. 2. Especially believing in the vehicle with seven greatnesses, that is, as said in the "Good Arms Sutra": The root of mantra is first of all discipline, then diligence and patience, having faith and bodhicitta in the Victorious One, secret mantra and not being lazy. 3. One should respect the lama, and those with vows, that is, the vidyadharas here, and friends, that is, the companions of the practitioners. 4. For special occasions like the abundance of fish, one should offer to worldly gods, because not offering will become an obstacle. 5. For the basis of merit arising from substances, without distinguishing sects, one should offer unexpected guests with generosity. 6. Reading the sutra pitaka, building stupas, and respecting them, etc., accumulating the accumulation of merit. 7. Striving for the actions that please the noble ones, such as recitation, etc., the actions of secret mantra. That is, as said in the "Good Arms Sutra": When reciting, not fast, not slow, the sound is not loud, not too small, not speaking while doing other things, not with a distracted mind, not bending, not adding, not curling the tongue, not diminishing the words. The meanings of these in order are: 1. Inaccurate pronunciation, and a distracted mind, 2. Excitement, 3. Dullness, 4. Mixing vulgar words into the words blessed by the Sugata, therefore siddhis cannot be obtained, 5. The mind going elsewhere besides the deity's form, letters, and sounds, 6. In both visualization and recitation, the seven faults such as bending, adding, etc. must be abandoned. 8. Each of the three families, and the deities, activities, and siddhis to be accomplished within them, and the common and uncommon vows of each individual, should be protected as taught in their respective tantras. 9. All the tantras of profound secret mantra should not be taught everywhere, but should be kept secret and hidden, that is, protecting the tantra, and the three studies of hearing, thinking, and meditating on its meaning.
