Regarding the two types of Bodhicitta, aspiring and engaging. The first is: merely vowing to become a Buddha for the benefit of sentient beings, which is not related to actual practice. The second is: committing to combine with practice and putting it into action. Regarding their respective trainings, there are two categories. The first is the training of aspiring Bodhicitta, which is further divided into three. The concise training is: thinking of becoming a Buddha for the benefit of all sentient beings. The intermediate one is: feeling discouraged thinking it is difficult to achieve Buddhahood by accumulating the two accumulations, and feeling lazy because one has not obtained the happiness of this life by doing good deeds, and being afraid of the faults of samsara, these three will abandon the Bodhicitta of aspiration. To counteract these, as stated in the 'Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra': 'Bees, bumblebees, gadflies, etc.,' and 'Riding the steed of Bodhicitta,' etc., can be dispelled by illusory cognition and special compassion. The extensive training is: the cause of generating Bodhicitta is the compassion and love of wanting to be free from the suffering of oneself and others, and wanting to attain happiness, and the conditions for growth are relying on a true spiritual friend, having faith in the Three Jewels, abandoning the activities of demons, the benefits of Bodhisattvas, the faults of samsara and nirvana, remembering the qualities of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and generating joy in accomplishing all the benefits of oneself and others, these seven. The methods for not degenerating are: not having faith in the Guru and the Three Jewels, not being able to bear the prosperity of others, striving only for one's own peace, not striving for vast methods, not knowing the qualities of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. If one is not willing to strive in that way, one will degenerate. Therefore, to counteract these, one should meditate on faith and joy, etc., as appropriate. There are also three types of training for engaging Bodhicitta. The concise one is: to learn to abandon evil and do good as much as possible. If one involuntarily commits evil deeds, one should confess the evil deeds done during the day at night, and the evil deeds done at night during the day, and dedicate all the good roots, even a little bit, to all sentient beings, wishing them to attain Buddhahood. The intermediate one is to adopt and abandon the eight white and black dharmas. The extensive one is, the cause is: aspiring mind entering the mind. To increase aspiration, one must seek methods, abandon the causes of degeneration, contemplate the faults of samsara and nirvana, and want to liberate all sentient beings. The condition is:

One should perform the seven-branch offering to the Lama and the Three Jewels every day, and also strive to learn the conduct of the Bodhisattvas as much as possible, as it appears in the Jataka tales and other sources. The method for not degenerating is to prevent the occurrence of root downfalls by cultivating the antidotes to the root downfalls mentioned in the Sutra of the Essence of Space and other sutras such as the Jewel Heap Sutra. Similarly, one should strive in various methods for purifying sins and downfalls, such as reciting the Hundred Syllable Mantra of Vajrasattva. In short, relying on ultimate Bodhicitta, with wisdom emptiness as the proximate cause for cultivation, and with skillful means of great compassion as the contributing condition, the five paths are accomplished. Relying on relative Bodhicitta, with skillful means of compassion as the proximate cause, and with wisdom emptiness as the contributing condition, the ten bhumis are attained. At the time of Buddhahood, the ultimate of the path is the Dharmakaya, and the ultimate of the bhumis is the Rupakaya. That is, abandoning the two obscurations together with their habitual tendencies, and possessing the wisdom of omniscience itself, that is, possessing the two perfections, is the characteristic of a Buddha. Among these, the Dharmadhatu, which is naturally pure, is liberated from adventitious stains that can be abandoned, and possesses two purities, is the Svabhavikakaya. Abiding in the Dense Array Pure Land, adorned with bodily marks and signs, the speech continuously turns the Great Vehicle Dharma wheel, the mind possesses the nature of the four wisdoms, and satisfying the retinue of tenth-bhumi Bodhisattvas, is the Sambhogakaya. Arising from the autonomous conditions of these two, the place is equal to the extent of space, and wherever the beings to be tamed abide, the activity is continuously performed in the three times, solely for the benefit of sentient beings, that is, the Nirmanakaya is the emanation of crafts, the supreme emanation, and the emanation. The analysis of whether there is wisdom in them is: others have various views, but according to our own system, from the ultimate point of view, because it transcends the realm of mind, it is liberated from the extremes of existence and non-existence. As the noble one said: "Existence and non-existence and the four extremes, do not exist in this peace." From the relative point of view, if mind and mental factors are designated as wisdom, then it does not exist, because delusion has been exhausted. If it is relative to all knowable things, then it exists, because the body of transformation has been attained. For the sake of others, abandoning one's own faults together with their root, is discipline. It is encompassed by the three: preparation, actual practice, and subsequent practice.
