I also obtained the Subduer. With diligence in seeing all, I am praised as the best of all. Thus it is said. The noble Vāgīśvara said: I do not know the lower realms. I do not know virtue. I do not know virtue, only looking at each other. I saw the stupa of the All-Seeing One, and at that time I made offerings. Sixty guests bought and smeared incense and garlands, and placed them on the stupa, and I did not fall into evil ways. By doing small virtuous deeds, I experienced much happiness. I also obtained the Subduer, who is the coolness of Nirvana. If I had known the perfect Buddha, I would have revered that stupa, and I would have done many good deeds. Like that perfect Buddha, knowing many qualities, please revere the stupa, and it will become a great fruit. Thus it is said. The noble Śrījāta said: In the city of Vārāṇasī, the teacher Buddha Kāśyapa passed into Nirvana. King Kṛki built a great stupa made of jewels. King Kṛki, like his name, when I became a cowherd, I first offered an umbrella to the stupa of the Victorious One. By doing that virtuous deed, wherever I was born, I became a beautiful god and human being because of doing good deeds. In that birth after birth, being rich and enjoying great wealth, possessing wealth and grain, I became a great benefactor. In five hundred lifetimes, I gave not a few donations, satisfying beggars, renunciates, and Brahmins individually. With a very pure mind, free from desire and without outflows, I satisfied five hundred undefiled solitary Buddhas. By doing that virtuous deed, in this last existence, I was born into the wealthy Shakya lineage. From "Thus it is said" to "I obtained the six superknowledges," it is spoken extensively. Having seen the insects, I gathered all the merchants, And built it again on the ground. The brothers together, Hung three umbrellas. Having done that virtuous deed, For a long time in the heavenly realms, And then returning to the human realm, Born into wealthy and great families. Not having seen the perfect Buddha, I went forth into other heretics. On the banks of the Nairanjana River, Having seen the display of miracles, In order to go forth from then on, We also prayed. Then the compassionate one, With loving-kindness, let us go forth. We went to the top of Gaya, Heard the teachings of Gautama. Then, having exerted effort, Attained the supreme Nirvana. Thus it is said. The noble Village Guardian said: The youngest son of King Kiki, At that time, I became him, For the stupa of the one endowed with radiant glory, And to protect the mind of the father, I offered a small bell to it. With a joyful mind, to the stupa, Hanging an umbrella, I made the aspiration to accompany The perfect Buddha. Having done that virtuous deed, Wherever I am born, Beautiful from having done merit, I become a god or a human. This, my last birth, I was born into a poor treasury. Thus it is said. Then I went forth, And thus abide in the teacher's doctrine. All my actions are exhausted, The defilements are destroyed. I hung one umbrella, And will experience much happiness. Beautiful from having done merit, I become a god or a human. The all-seeing one (Buddha) among all, Of the practitioners, pointed me out as the first. Having attained the cool Nirvana, I also attained the Arhat. Thus, for the great compassionate one, Having generated great faith in my mind, I showed reverence to the stupa. Freed from great fear. Became an excellent transformation. I made such a prayer. Because I did such virtuous deeds, I was born as the middle son of King Kṛkṛ of Kāśī. After seeing the stupa of Buddha Kāśyapa, I developed a joyful mind. To that stupa, I offered a medium-sized umbrella. Through bathing and a warm room, as well as anointing with mustard oil, and offering an umbrella, I experienced much happiness. Then, the goddess of karma, in this, my last life, was born into the Shakya clan as a king, becoming one who could protect the Buddha. On this very body of mine, there are also the marks of a great being, neither exceeding thirty-two, nor being less than thirty-two. In the teachings of Shakya Simha, after I became ordained, I obtained the coolness of Nirvana, I also attained the state of an Arhat. Thus it is said.
