And, similarly, son of lineage, among all dharmas, there is not a single dharma that is called permanent except for nirvana. And, the Tathagata's truly complete liberation is permanent, unchanging, and unmoving. In liberation, there is no impermanence or suffering, no change or transformation. Therefore, liberation is permanent, unchanging, and cool. And, the Tathagata is unborn and without lineage. Because of being unborn and without lineage, it is permanent. The permanent dharma is universally pervasive, just as space is universally pervasive. The Tathagata is also universally pervasive like that, so it is permanent. And so on, it is extensively spoken. Similarly, in the "Noble Great Drum Sutra" it is also said: "All the Buddhas, Bhagavat, who have completely entered into nirvana, all of them are permanent, stable, peaceful, and real." And, "Those formless gods will also be counted among the conditioned, but liberation is unconditioned." And so on, it is extensively spoken. In the "Noble Sutra Beneficial to Angulimala" it is also said: "Tathagata is permanent, stable, and real, extremely joyful, satisfied, haha, well-spoken, perfectly complete, may I obtain that." And, "To call the Tathagata permanent, this is extremely true for the Mahayana, suffering is not truth. To call the Tathagata real, this is extremely true, accumulation is not truth. To call the Tathagata the supreme of reality, this is extremely true, cessation is not truth. To call the Tathagata peaceful, this is extremely true, the path is not truth, for the Mahayana, these are the four noble truths." And, "The Tathagata is permanent, real, the supreme of eternity, having become cool. The knower is the Buddha, the Tathagata is the Dharmakaya." And, "In order to divide the non-virtuous to the virtuous, I have repeatedly given up my body, therefore my body has become an unborn body." And, combining it like that, "My body has become an indestructible, unconditioned body, incomparable. My body has become an ageless body. My body has become a diseaseless body."

My body became the body of refuge. And so on, each one was spoken with reason. The garland of fingers has been here for countless eons, while I dwell in all things. Nirvana is liberation. Liberation is the Tathagata. And the Blessed One said: Manjushri, the Tathagata, in the lineage of the southern lands, my teachings will remain for many years. Bodhisattvas like you, who perform extremely difficult deeds, giving up their lives, will declare that the Tathagata is eternal, the Tathagata is steadfast, the Tathagata is unchanging. For the benefit of all sentient beings, they will reveal the Tathagatagarbha. And so on, extensively spoken. Similarly, in that very sutra it says: I dwell in the uncreated, true limit. And similarly connect: I dwell in the peaceful, unborn limit. I dwell in the uncompounded limit. I dwell in the ageless limit. And, I dwell in the limit of truth. I dwell well in the limit of Dharma. I dwell in the limit of wisdom. I dwell in the limit of truth. Sorrow

I abide at the edge of transcendence of death. I abide at the edge of freedom from sorrow. I abide at the edge of being without dust. I abide at the edge of being apart from dust. I abide at the edge of the profound Dharma. I abide at the edge of the Dharma that is difficult to see. I abide at the edge of the subtle Dharma. I abide at the edge of the Dharma of the wise. I abide at the edge of being difficult to see. I abide at the edge of having no Alaya consciousness. I abide at the edge of the bliss supreme Nirvana. I abide at the edge of the constant, stable, supreme, auspicious, and extremely cool. And so on, it is extensively taught in the sutras. Also, in the Sutra on Entering the Inconceivable Realm of the Qualities and Wisdom of the Tathagata, it is said: If one has faith and belief that the Tathagata is permanent, immeasurable and countless merits will arise, and in many ways, the Tathagata is spoken of as permanent. For details, refer to the sutra itself. Similarly, the Dharmakaya of the Buddha is also the perfection of "self." As it is said in the Great Nirvana Sutra: To perceive self in non-self, and to perceive non-self in self, is a reversal. Worldly people also speak of self, and in the Buddha's teachings also speak of self. Although worldly people speak of self, because there is no Buddha-nature, this is perceiving self in non-self, which is called a reversal. The self that exists in the Buddha's teachings is the Buddha-nature. Worldly people say that there is no self in the Buddha's teachings, therefore it is said to perceive non-self in self. Non-Buddhists say that because there is Buddha-nature, there is definitely no self in the Dharma. What is called self is the Tathagata. Why? Because the body is infinite, there is no net of doubt, it does not act, it does not take, therefore it is called permanent. Son of good family, what is called self is the meaning of the Tathagatagarbha. All sentient beings have Buddha-nature, this is the meaning of self. The Buddha-nature cannot be made to disappear by its own nature; there is no place to make it disappear. The very nature of what is called self is the Tathagata.
