It exists conventionally, and it exists ultimately. Considering this, the Bhagavan said: "Existence is truly known as existence, and non-existence is truly known as non-existence." The meaning of what was said is easy to understand, and it has already been explained before. If asked: Other scriptures say that the dependent nature (paratantra) is not truly established, then how is it taught in this scripture? It is also taught in this scripture, because it prevents arising from the four extremes of dependent origination, and because it is said that arising is without self-nature, and because it is said that all phenomena are unborn and unceasing, peaceful from the beginning, and naturally in nirvana, and also because it shows emptiness by the two self-natures. Some people think that this scripture is the self-doctrine of the Mind-Only school, but those people have also been refuted. Thus, considering these different ways of the emptiness of the three natures, the ultimate Madhyamaka doctrine also says in the Ornament of the Sutras: Knowing the emptiness of non-existence, likewise knowing the emptiness of existence, knowing the emptiness of self-nature, it is said to know emptiness. Thus it is said that the imputed nature is the emptiness of constant non-existence. The dependent nature is the emptiness of temporary existence, but not merely existence. The perfected nature of reality is the self-nature that is empty of self-nature, the emptiness of the self-nature of non-things, because it is not empty of its own self-nature, so it exists, and because it is also empty by the dependent nature, so it is also called non-existence. The three self-natures are constantly non-existent, existent but not only, existent and non-existent only. Because the ultimate Madhyamaka is also spoken in the Discrimination of the Middle and the Extremes. The ultimate Madhyamaka is also said in the Compendium of Abhidharma: Again, there are three kinds of emptiness: emptiness of self-nature, likewise, emptiness of non-existence, emptiness of self-nature. What is said is also applied to the three self-natures. Furthermore, regarding the meaning of truly non-existent and existent, the Victorious Maitreya has spoken about dharma and dharmata, in the ultimate Madhyamaka Discrimination of Dharma and Dharmata: The two are truly one, not different nor one, those that are existent and non-existent, because of the difference of existence and non-existence.

Thus it is said. In the ultimate Madhyamaka, the Ornament of the Sutras, it is also said: Children are obscured by what is truly real, and what is not real appears everywhere. Bodhisattvas remove that obscuration, and what is truly real appears everywhere. Thus it is said. Meaningless and meaningful, non-manifestation and manifestation should be known. Thus it is said. Beings are not even slightly different from that, and all beings are completely deluded about it with a foolish mind. Completely abandoning existence and clinging to non-existence, what is this severe form of worldly delusion like? Thus, it is shown that the phenomena of the completely imputed and the other-dependent are not truly existent, and the nature of the perfectly established is truly existent. These also show the meaning of self-emptiness and other-emptiness. Considering this, in the name of ultimate truth, it is also correctly said: Those with wisdom know existence and non-existence. Thus it is said. Here, existence is other-emptiness, and non-existence is self-emptiness. In the context of showing suchness in the Ornament of the Sutras, it is also said that ultimate truth is other-empty. Thus, as the nature of ultimate truth, it is said in verse: Not existent, not non-existent, not thus, not other. No birth and no destruction, cannot be diminished. No increase and no purity, the transformation of purity is the nature of ultimate truth. Thus it is said. The meaning of this is: "Not existent" means the completely imputed and the other-dependent are not truly existent. "Not non-existent" means the nature of the perfectly established is not truly non-existent. "Not thus" means the completely imputed and the other-dependent are not the same essence as the nature of the perfectly established. "Not other" means all those essences are not different either, because the essence of the completely imputed and the other-dependent is not established in truth. Thus, the basis of emptiness by those two, the nature of the perfectly established, is unconditioned, therefore there is no birth and destruction, no increase and decrease, and because it is naturally pure, there is no need to purify the essence, and when it is attained, it is necessary to purify the temporary defilements. Thus, the five natures that are complete with two non-self-natures are the nature of ultimate truth, which is the intention (of Maitreya Bodhisattva), as explained in the commentary of that treatise. Therefore, here it is also said that the nature of the perfectly established, which is the basis of emptiness by the completely imputed and the other-dependent, exists as ultimate truth.
