Thatness and its distinctions. First, Thatness speaks of purity. As stated in the Glorious Vajra Peak: "How is purity expressed? It is neither existent nor non-existent, neither substance nor non-substance, neither speaker nor spoken. Purity is Nirvana itself." And so on. "All things," and so forth, refers to the equality of external and internal objects of conceptualization, which is pure Suchness. Thus, Suchness constantly abides in Thatness. By its very nature, it is immaculate and eternally pure, like the sky, described as uncompounded nature. By its essence, one should meditate on Suchness. As stated in the Perfection of Wisdom, in the chapter on Suchness: "How is the Suchness of the Thus-Gone One immutable, unchangeable, without thought, without discrimination, and indestructible in any way? Similarly, the Suchness of all phenomena is immutable, unchangeable, without thought, without discrimination, and indestructible in any way. Why is that? Because the Suchness of the Thus-Gone One and the Suchness of all phenomena are one and the same. Suchness is non-dual and without dualistic discrimination." And again, in the same text: "The purity of the deities, through the distinctions of the aggregates and so forth, is to be understood from the outside, such as 'the form aggregate transforms into Vajra Mother,' and so on." Why, then, are the faculties and so forth said to be pure? It is said, "Obscured by afflictions and ignorance." "Ignorance" refers to not understanding ignorance and grasping at "I" and "mine." Afflictions are the causes of desire and aversion, the specific aspects of the mind. To be obscured by these is to be covered, and that should be purified. In the Glorious Immaculate Light, it is also said: "In emptiness, a collection of things, the permanent form is completely devoid of characteristics. The seen appearance is like a mirror, reflecting the face of a young maiden." This means that through the transcendent truth, the form aggregate is purified, and it is wisdom like a mirror.

Quoting up to "The aggregate of consciousness being completely pure is the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu." Again, it is stated in the same place: "The wisdom of emptiness of all aspects is the bliss of transference, the exhaustion of the obscuration of conceptualization, and so on. The aggregates, elements, sense bases, and so on, are completely pure." In the glorious Perfection of Wisdom, it is also stated in the chapter on complete purity: "Subhuti, whatever form is completely pure, that is the result being completely pure. Whatever the result being completely pure is, that is form being completely pure. Subhuti, thus, this form being completely pure and the result being completely pure are non-dual, cannot be made into two, are not separate, and are not different. Subhuti, similarly, feeling, perception, formation, and so on. Subhuti, whatever consciousness is completely pure, that is the result being completely pure. Whatever the result being completely pure is, that is consciousness being completely pure." And so on. Also, in the same place, quoting the Vajra Tent scripture: "The world as it is, is the Buddha. As the Dharma is without conceptualization, thus are the realms of sentient beings explained. Like the sky, without stain. By false and all kinds of conceptualizations, the nature of mind is stained. If the mind is pure, it becomes pure, like the indestructible sky." And so on, extensively explained. In the glorious Supreme First Tantra also: "Then, the Bhagavan Tathagata, having obtained the nature of reality itself, the true nature of reality, is the equality of all dharmas. This is called the wisdom mudra of Avalokiteshvara, and this mode of the Perfection of Wisdom was taught: By the complete purity of all desire, all hatred in the world also becomes completely pure. By the complete purity of all defilements, all sins in the world also become completely pure. By the complete purity of all dharmas, all sentient beings in the world also become completely pure. By the complete purity of all knowledge, the Perfection of Wisdom in the world becomes completely pure." And so on, extensively explained. Therefore, the intention of what is stated in the chapter on complete purity is the conventional self-
