to show. What is the meaning of saying this? Gangpo said: The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, even though they diligently searched for the realm of sentient beings, self, life, person, born of power, and the son of power in all dharmas, they did not find them. Thinking that non-self is the word of the Buddha, they passed away. Similarly, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the present and future will not find them, will not find them. Similarly, apply this to all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Having said that, they thus show that there is no realm of life, person, powerful one, son of power, sentient being, and self. Thus, they show non-self. Thus, they show emptiness. Thus, they teach such Dharma. Somo's necklace again said this to Gangpo, the son of the loving mother: Alas, Venerable Gangpo, you practice the behavior of a bee, and you do not know how to teach the Dharma. Even a bee knows how to make a buzzing sound, but you, foolish like a bee, say nothing. Gangpo, not knowing the skillful means of the Tathagata, thinks of non-self as Dharma, like a moth falling into the lamp of the Dharma of ignorance. What is meant by 'the Buddhas did not find' is that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past passed away without finding the Tathagatagarbha in all sentient beings. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the present also do not find the realm of self in all sentient beings. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the future will also not find the realm of sentient beings in all sentient beings. The Pratyekabuddhas and Shravakas also do not find, do not find, and will not find the Tathagatagarbha in all sentient beings in the three times. The meaning of that verse is this. Again, what is meant by 'what all the Buddhas did not find' is that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, even though they diligently searched for all dharmas, did not find the self of worldly people, as small as a thumb, the seed of Tribulus terrestris, rice, mustard seed, sesame seed, red, blue, yellow, white, short, long, very long

Like "burning in the heart" and so on. Starting from "Whatever is permanent, stable, and enduring, that self is like this," all Buddhas and Shravakas did not realize it, but after attaining enlightenment, they proclaimed it to sentient beings. This is the meaning of the verse. If one analyzes it in a reversed manner, then that is not its meaning. What the Buddhas have not realized refers to the past Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who also passed away without realizing the Tathagatagarbha. The uncreated Buddha-realm, adorned with limitless excellent marks and signs, exists in the hearts of all sentient beings. The present Buddhas, the Bhagavat, even if they diligently search, cannot find this Tathagatagarbha. The uncreated, limitless Buddha-nature realm, adorned with excellent marks and signs, exists in the hearts of all sentient beings. The Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas of the three times, like bees, although they hear that there is a Tathagatagarbha, they cannot see it with their eyes. This is the explanation of the reason for the question. For example, like the discipline held by Rahula and the diligent practitioners of morality, they very carefully observe the water with living beings, thinking, "Is it a living being or not? Or is it just something like dust? It is not all of them," and then gradually observing, they finally see that it is a tiny living being. Similarly, Bodhisattvas who have attained the ten bhumis personally see that the nature of self exists in their own bodies, and they see such existence in this limitless nature. Therefore, entering the Tathagatagarbha is very difficult. Those who, in worlds like completely burning and fiercely burning, even give up their own lives to proclaim it, are very rare and beneficial. Bodhisattvas also only proclaim the Tathagatagarbha to them, and not to others. Sentient beings themselves are the Tathagata. For example, just as there is no obstruction in the eyes of someone who possesses illusory eyes. Without obstruction, and together with children with ordinary eyes, they go and see the traces of birds flying in the sky.

If one observes, can a child with flesh eyes see the tracks of birds in the sky? Only those who abide in stability can see clearly. Even a person with flesh eyes, through the help of those who abide in stability, develops great faith and goes forth in that way. Like a child with flesh eyes, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, having faith in all the principles of the Sutras, know that the Tathagatagarbha exists, but how can they truly see the essence of the Tathagata's realm? If the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas do not rely on others, how can they have faith like a blind person? Previously, it had not happened that this earth became endowed with four flavors. I have heard from those who do not say that the previous perfectly complete Buddhas are different, that those beings who have tasted the four flavors still consume the food of children, and when will they be able to abandon the delicious taste they have enjoyed for so long? Similarly, those beings who have previously meditated on and cultivated the Tathagatagarbha in the presence of many perfectly complete Buddhas still have faith in the Tathagatagarbha. Those beings have meditated for a long time and are making efforts towards the Tathagata, they are not others. In the future, those beings who proclaim the Tathagatagarbha and, having heard it, develop faith, are not others, but like the sons of the Tathagata eating earth, they are making efforts towards the Tathagata. And so on. In the Great Drum Sutra also, it says: O Light-protector, these four are examples of the cause and basis of obscuration in the realm of beings. What are the four? Like the eyes developing a yellow or blue cataract, like the moon being covered by clouds, like digging a well, like a lamp inside a vase. O Light-protector, these four are the cause and basis for saying, "There is the Tathagatagarbha," because of these causes and bases, all beings and sentient beings have the Buddha-nature, appearing adorned with limitless excellent marks and signs, and beings can attain Nirvana through that realm. That
