By meditating deeply on emptiness and contemplating profoundly on emptiness, one will see all phenomena perish and become unbearable. Liberation, which is not empty, is also seen as empty and realized. Furthermore, you also consider non-empty dharmas as empty; having seen the emptiness of dharmas, you also cause the non-empty dharmas to perish. Thus, it is extensively taught. Similarly, in the Sutra of Golden Light, it is said: "Son of good family, for example, someone desires gold and searches everywhere. Having found a gold ore, they crush the ore thoroughly, melt and refine the essence, and after it is completely purified, the gold can be transformed into various ornaments such as rings at will for use, but the nature of gold does not change. Son of good family, furthermore, any son or daughter of good family who is inclined to practice worldly virtues, upon seeing the Tathagata or the retinue of the Tathagata, approaches them and asks: 'Bhagavan, what is virtue, and what is non-virtue? What kind of correct practice will lead to the attainment of completely pure conduct?' The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and my retinue, thinking that someone asks this, will think: 'These sons and daughters of good family are inclined to listen to the true Dharma and desire to be completely purified. Therefore, the correct Dharma is taught to them.' Having heard this, they properly apply their minds, generate thoughts of diligence, and strive in practice. Through this power, their individual obscurations and all sinful, non-virtuous dharmas are eliminated. They abide with great reverence in all places of learning, eliminate mental sinking and excitement, and thereby enter the first bhumi. Relying on the mind of the first bhumi, they strive for the benefit of many sentient beings, eliminate obscurations, and thereby enter the second bhumi. From that bhumi, they eliminate the obscurations of afflictions and thereby enter the third bhumi. From that bhumi, they eliminate the obscurations of purifying the mind and thereby enter the fourth bhumi. From that bhumi, they eliminate the obscurations of skillful means and thereby enter the fifth bhumi. From that bhumi, they eliminate the obscurations of clinging to ultimate truth and conventional truth and thereby enter the sixth bhumi. From that bhumi, they eliminate the obscurations of clinging to characteristics and actions and thereby enter the seventh bhumi.

End. From that ground, also abandoning the obscuration of not fixating on signs, one enters the eighth ground. From that ground, also abandoning the obscuration of not fixating on the arising of signs, one enters the ninth ground. From that ground, abandoning the obscuration of the sixth supernormal cognition, one enters the tenth ground. From that ground, by purifying the obscuration of knowledge and the alaya-consciousness, one enters the ground of the Thus-Gone-One. The ground of the Thus-Gone-One is called utterly pure because of three purities. What are the three? They are as follows: purity of afflictions, purity of suffering, and purity of signs. Just as good gold, when melted, hammered, and refined, is no longer stained by dust and impurities, and appears as gold that is pure in its own nature, the purity of the substance of gold is not that it has become non-existent. For example, when muddy water becomes clear and pure, the very nature of the water becomes clear, but the water itself has not disappeared. Similarly, the Dharmakaya also abandons the accumulation of various afflictions and sufferings, completely eliminating all habitual tendencies, and the pure essence of Buddhahood itself appears, but it is not that the substance has become non-existent. Again, for example, when the smoke, clouds, dust, and haze that obscure the sky disappear, the realm of the sky becomes pure, but the sky itself has not disappeared. Similarly, the Dharmakaya is called pure because all afflictions have been exhausted, but the body itself has not disappeared. It is said, similarly, because all conceptualizations do not arise in the realm of Dharma, it is called pure, and the true body of the Buddhas is not non-existent. Thus, and so on, it is extensively taught, as well as the manner in which the ultimate Dharmakaya pervades all of samsara and nirvana, the benefits of having faith and wisdom in it, and the faults of not having faith, etc., are widely proclaimed. In the sutra as rare as the Udumbara flower, then Angulimala again said this to the son of the loving mother: That which all Buddhas and Shravakas have not attained, having manifestly awakened to that Dharma, for the sake of sentient beings.
