Born in the mountain range called Kayo, he will become a monk who proclaims my name, skilled in the means of protecting fields, ordained among my negligent monks, and gather them with objects of attraction. Having found this sutra, he will wear it on his body, purify the Sangha, and first completely abandon the great foundation of what is unsuitable, and will proclaim the great Dharma. He will proclaim the Dharma conch and the Dharma banner spoken from the great drum. Secondly, he will speak of the emptiness of the Great Vehicle sutras. Thirdly, he will speak of the permanence of the sentient realm and the words of the Great Drum Sutra. He will beat the great drum of the Great Dharma, he will blow the conch of the Great Dharma, he will erect the Dharma banner, and he will wear armor in his presence. Thus he speaks. And if there are beings to be subdued there, he will say: Look at the coming of this Bhagavan Shakyamuni. The Tathagata is permanent, steadfast, peaceful, and true, look at me like that! Know that the steadfastness and happiness I have taught and spoken of are like that, and he will prophesy. Then, from the ten directions in the sky, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, will each show their faces to him and say, "That is so." It will be said thus. The whole world will also believe that his Dharma is well taught. Thus it is said. In the manner of proclaiming the praise of the Three Jewels to beings, the secret of the Buddha is proclaimed as follows: The Tathagata is permanent, steadfast, peaceful, and true. Thus the secret of the Buddha is proclaimed. It is also said in the Great Cloud Sutra: The greatness of the qualities of the Tathagata, whether it is profound, equal, permanent, true, steadfast, or the meaning of the name of the sutra being taught, wherever it truly exists, one should go to the center of the crossroads of the human path. For the sake of hearing, respecting, painting, offering, and serving other Great Cloud essences, worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges

One should also enter into that which is exceedingly complete. And so on. Similarly, in the Sutra of the Benefit of the Holy Garland of Fingers, which is as rare as the Udumbara flower, it is said that the Buddha-dhatu, or the Buddha in the dhatu, which has many qualities that are naturally established, such as the absence of faults such as birth and death, and the infinite signs and examples of the Dharma-nature, exists in sentient beings. As it is said: "Although all the Buddhas diligently searched everywhere, they did not find the arising of the Tathagatagarbha. All sentient beings have the unarisen Buddha-dhatu, the dhatu adorned with infinite signs and excellent qualities. Although all the Buddhas diligently searched themselves, they did not find the arising of the dhatu. All sentient beings have the unarisen dhatu, the Buddha-dhatu adorned with infinite signs and excellent qualities. Although all the Buddhas diligently searched themselves, they did not find the impermanent dhatu. All sentient beings have the permanent dhatu, the Buddha-dhatu adorned with infinite signs and excellent qualities. Although all the Buddhas diligently searched, they did not find the Tathagatagarbha that is not steadfast. All sentient beings have the steadfast dhatu, the Buddha-dhatu adorned with infinite signs and excellent qualities. Although all the Buddhas diligently searched, they did not find the Tathagatagarbha that is not eternal. All sentient beings have the eternal dhatu, the Buddha-dhatu adorned with infinite signs and excellent qualities. Although all the Buddhas diligently searched, they did not find the Tathagatagarbha without disease. All sentient beings have the dhatu without disease, the Buddha-dhatu adorned with infinite signs and excellent qualities. Although all the Buddhas diligently searched, they did not find the Tathagatagarbha without old age and death. All sentient beings have the dhatu without old age and death, the Buddha-dhatu adorned with infinite signs and excellent qualities."

Even if sought with all diligence, the destruction of the Tathagatagarbha cannot be found. There exists the indestructible realm, the realm of the Buddha, a realm adorned with limitless excellent marks and signs. Even if all Buddhas seek with utmost diligence, the destructible Tathagatagarbha cannot be found. There exists the imperishable realm, the realm of the Buddha, a realm where all sentient beings are adorned with limitless excellent marks and signs. Even if all Buddhas seek with utmost diligence, no defilement can be found in the Tathagatagarbha. In all sentient beings, there exists the undefiled realm, the realm of the Buddha, a realm adorned with limitless excellent marks and signs. For example, just as water and sesame oil mixed together cannot be distinguished, similarly, although the realm of the Buddha is covered by countless afflictions, there is no instance where afflictions and the realm of the Buddha are mixed together. Although the realm exists within countless afflictions, just as a lamp is inside a vase, when the vase is broken, the lamp burns brightly and beautifully. The one who reveals the Tathagatagarbha is the fully enlightened Buddha. And so on. Also, in the *Ghanavyuha Sutra*: The Tathagata is permanent, steadfast, true, and indestructible. It is the object of those yogis who cultivate mindfulness of the Buddha. What is proclaimed as the Tathagatagarbha is the realm of Nirvana, indestructible like space. The sound of Nirvana, with the words of the realm of Dharma, has been taught by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, present, and future. Thus, whether the Tathagatas appear or do not appear, the dharmata of dharmas, the sthitata of Dharma, the dharmadhatu, and the faultlessness of Dharma—this is the Tathagata. That which is called the Vajragarbha without fault is also free from all faults of arising. The Vajragarbha without fault is not only free from all faults, but also enters into samadhi. And so on. The wise realize individually for themselves, the true nature and the ultimate truth, which is beyond the realm of words, the essence of the Buddha is invisible.
