It should not be said that form has length or shortness. Why is that? Because although a blind person cannot see, it is not the case that a sighted person cannot see. The Buddha-nature is also like this: although all sentient beings cannot see it, the Bodhisattvas of the tenth ground see a portion of it, while the Tathāgatas see it completely. The Bodhisattvas of the tenth ground see the Buddha-nature as if it were a form in the night, while the Tathāgatas see it as if it were a form in the day. Son of good family, for example, a blind person cannot see forms clearly. If a skilled doctor treats his eyes, he will be able to see clearly through the power of the medicine. The Bodhisattvas of the tenth ground are also like this: they see the Buddha-nature, but not clearly. Through the power of the Heroic Progress Samādhi, they will be able to see it very clearly. Son of good family, if someone sees all dharmas as impermanent, without self, without happiness, and impure, and also sees all non-dharmas as impermanent, without self, without happiness, and impure, then they do not see the Buddha-nature. Here, "all" refers to saṃsāra. "Not all" refers to the Three Jewels. The Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas see all dharmas as impermanent, without self, without happiness, and impure. They also see all non-dharmas as impermanent, without self, without happiness, and impure. Because of this, they do not see the Buddha-nature. The Bodhisattvas of the tenth ground see all dharmas as impermanent, without self, without happiness, and impure, while they see a portion of permanence, self, happiness, and purity in all non-dharmas. Therefore, they see only one-tenth. The Buddha Bhagavān sees all dharmas as impermanent, without self, without happiness, and impure, while he sees permanence, self, happiness, and purity in all non-dharmas. Therefore, he sees the Buddha-nature as clearly as seeing an āmalaka fruit in the palm of his hand. Therefore, the Heroic Progress Samādhi is ultimate.

Oh, son of lineage! For example, although the crescent moon is not visible, it cannot be said to not exist. The Buddha-nature is also the same; although it is not visible to all ignorant common people, it cannot be said that there is no Buddha-nature. Oh, son of lineage! The self-nature of a Pratyekabuddha is like this: the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, great compassion, and the three mindfulnesses. All sentient beings have these three qualities, and once the afflictions are completely destroyed, they will be seen for the first time. Those with wrong views, once they have completely destroyed their wrong views, will initially attain the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, great compassion, and the three mindfulnesses. Therefore, I always say that all sentient beings have the Buddha-nature. Such extremely extensive teachings mean that all sentient beings constantly possess the ultimate Buddha-nature. If that is the case, is there no need to practice the path? That is not the case. It is transmitted from India that there truly exist the Buddha Jewel, the Dharma Jewel, and the Sangha Jewel. The Tathagata also taught the essence of all dharmas, namely the Noble Eightfold Path and the Great Nirvana, but sentient beings are unable to attain them. This is not my fault, nor is it the fault of the Noble Path; it should be understood that this is the fault of sentient beings and the sin of afflictions. Therefore, all sentient beings have not attained Nirvana. Oh, son of lineage! For example, if a skilled doctor diagnoses an illness and prescribes medicine, it is not the doctor's fault if the patient does not take it. Oh, son of lineage! If a patron gives all of their possessions to everyone, but some do not accept them, it is not the patron's fault. Oh, son of lineage! For example, when the sun rises, all deep ravines are illuminated, but it is not the sun's fault that a blind person cannot see the road. Oh, son of lineage! For example, the water of the Ganges River can quench thirst, but it is not the water's fault if a thirsty person does not drink it. Oh, son of lineage! For example, the great earth equally produces all fruits, two
