Now, just as one possesses a vajra in one's own body, but due to the decline of awareness, one conceives it as emptiness. Likewise, sentient beings in the world, because they do not understand my Suchness, and are influenced by bad friends, and do not understand the intended meaning, even though I exist, they meditate on non-self. Those who do not meditate on non-self, then meditate on the worldly self. How does the worldly self exist? Just as they do not understand my Suchness, so too is it the same for those who are beyond the world. Relying on bad friends, and not understanding the limits of the intended meaning, they meditate, saying, 'There is no self.' While meditating in this way, they do not understand the Suchness of non-self. Where is the self? Where does it abide? Is it like a pot inside a pot? Or does it pervade like moisture? Or is it like an ornament on the brow of the ignorant? Thinking in this way, the Tathagata, like a doctor, says to them: 'I do not abide in all places, but like a precious vajra, I am luminous, yet obscured by the forms of afflictions.' Having said this, sentient beings will believe, and it is only necessary to exhaust the afflictions. Then, like the vajra, the Tathagatagarbha will be seen. Son of lineage, in that way, the Tathagatagarbha is immeasurable. Furthermore, son of lineage, for example, in the snowy mountains there is an essence called the essence of bees. It is covered by dense forests of Gelba trees, but its fragrance is evident. In the past, a Chakravartin king, in order to obtain it, dug pits in various directions. From that essence, from some pits flowed sour juice, from some pits flowed salty juice, from some pits flowed sweet juice, from some pits flowed spicy juice, from some pits flowed bitter juice, and from some pits flowed astringent juice. Such an essence rises from the forest into the sky. From such a single essence, various different tastes arise, but those tastes do not mix with each other, and that essence pervades all places like the orb of the moon. It is like that.
