Previous meditation is meaningless. That is the origin of suffering. The reason for saying this is that one does not understand the true nature of the Dharma, and for the sake of the Dharma, one acquires many inferior things such as slaves and maids, and thinks that what is not Dharma is Dharma. Thinking this way will lead to the decline of the true Dharma, and the true Dharma will become unclear. Because one does not understand the method of guarding the true Dharma, one thinks this way, thinking that the true Dharma will not be destroyed. Therefore, the result is wandering around in the suffering of samsara. Then, one will attain heaven and liberation. Attaining heaven and liberation is because one does not understand the true nature of the origin of suffering, thus becoming the cause of the destruction of the true Dharma. With evil words of slander, one will be in affliction until the end of this kalpa. Understanding like this is called understanding the origin of suffering. The understanding of others is not like this. This is called "the cessation of suffering," and practicing emptiness is to practice emptiness forever. Complete annihilation is to deny the Tathagatagarbha. It is not like that. Practicing the cessation of suffering, for all wonderful things, there is also emptiness that contradicts the meaning. Those will also be called the cessation of suffering. All sentient beings have the Tathagatagarbha. But it is not obvious. When afflictions cease, you will see entering the Tathagatagarbha. When a thought arises, thinking that I have obtained the fruit produced by karma, and obtained the freedom, permanence, and happiness of the Dharma, what you understand is the practice of the cessation of suffering. If one practices the Tathagatagarbha as selfless, and practices emptiness forever, then suffering will not cease, just like a moth flying into a flame. If it is not like that, but one practices the existence of the Tathagatagarbha, then sentient beings, although having the form of afflictions, can stop the form of afflictions. Why is that? That is because of the cause of the Tathagatagarbha.

From the words of the perfectly enlightened Buddha, known as "the true words of cessation of suffering." Others meditate on what is not meditation. This is called the path that leads to the cessation of suffering, namely the Tathagata, the Dharma, the Sangha, and liberation. Thus, the object that is transformed into perversion by the four perversions towards them is liberation. Thinking that there is nothing in liberation is like being in an illusion, completely wandering in the suffering of samsara. The result of that bad meditation is that one will experience suffering for a long time. That is, by generating a single thought of permanence, stability, steadfastness, and non-destruction towards the Tathagata, the Dharma, the Sangha, and liberation, I will obtain the result of eternal power. The four perversions, suffering, selflessness, and impurity, holding what is not Dharma and what is Dharma, experiencing the result of bad views. This is called the path that leads to the cessation of suffering. In order to accomplish the constant meditation on the three bases, whatever meditation is impermanent is the meditation on what is untrue. Those who constantly meditate in this way are my Shravakas, who know the Four Noble Truths. Thus I say. These should be known as the Four Noble Truths. Question. O Blessed One, I now understand how to meditate on the Four Noble Truths in this way. Answer. To perceive happiness in suffering is a perversion. To perceive suffering in happiness is a perversion. The Tathagata is called impermanent, which is suffering and misery. The Tathagata, like a fire that has consumed its fuel, is completely extinguished, which is suffering and misery. To meditate on oneself as not suffering, and to say that the Tathagata is impermanent, this is a perversion. To perceive suffering in happiness is a perversion, for if one meditates that the Tathagata is permanent, one will become attached to the view of self. Thinking that meditating on this is suffering...
