If the departed are always without birth and cessation, then what is the reason for seeing birth and destruction? Because of accumulating virtuous roots, one's own mind becomes like a pure lapis lazuli (Tibetan: བཻ༷ཌཱུ༷རྻ༷་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वैडूर्य, Sanskrit Romanization: vaiḍūrya, Literal Chinese meaning: lapis lazuli) earth, without defilement and clear, so one can clearly see the body of the perfect Buddhas. Or, the method to purify the mind is to make faith and other faculties very strong and stable by not opposing unfavorable conditions such as disbelief. Just as the purity and impurity of the earth affect the appearance and disappearance of images, if the faith and other virtuous roots of the beings to be tamed have birth and destruction, then due to these factors, the conventional form body of the Buddhas will appear to have birth and destruction in sequence. However, just as Indra himself does not leave the Thirty-three Heavens, the all-knowing Buddha does not change his own true meaning Dharmakaya, so there is no birth and destruction. This is what was said above. The way in which all activities continue uninterrupted is: if the Buddhas do not make effort, then what is the reason for the uninterrupted continuation of activities? Just as Indra and others do not make effort, but the appearance of images and other things benefit others, the Buddhas also do not have any effort of conceptualization, etc. From the beginning, the Dharmakaya, which has no birth and no cessation, has manifested and has not left. Therefore, as long as the cycle of beings to be tamed has not ended, the manifestation of the body will continue to be shown, the teachings of language will be spoken, and the activities such as the wisdom and compassion that pervade everything will be naturally accomplished and continuous. This is what was said above. Although similar, the excellence is divided into two points. Briefly stated: These nine metaphors symbolize the activities of the Buddha, and their brief meaning will be explained by the scriptures to be explained below. Moreover, the later metaphors will

The reason for determining the order of the teacher will also be explained. That is to say, the previous examples cannot fully represent the activities of the Buddha, and all the parts that do not conform to the Dharma will be removed in sequence by the later examples, and the Dharma will be explained through the path of showing conformity. That's all. The detailed explanation is: The activities of the complete Buddhas are like showing infinite manifestations of the body on the ground of Vaidurya, like the appearance of Indra's image. However, the image has no sound, and the Buddha has the sound of preaching the Dharma, so it is not like the image, but more excellent. In this way, from the perspective of having the sound of preaching the Dharma, showing various teachings of speech is like the great drum of the gods showing the four seals of the Dharma. However, the great drum is only limited to one direction, and cannot be spread everywhere, so it cannot accomplish the benefit. The Buddha's activities pervade all the worlds of those who are to be tamed, so it is not like the great drum, but more excellent. In this way, from the perspective of pervading all the worlds, maturing those who are to be tamed with wisdom and compassion is like the great cloud pervading everything and maturing the crops. However, the clouds do not abandon meaningless seeds, and the Buddha abandons meaningless seeds of afflictions such as greed, so it is not like the clouds, but more excellent. In this way, from the perspective of abandoning meaningless seeds of afflictions, showing infinite manifestations is like the manifestation of the Great Brahma abandoning attachment to sensual pleasures. However, Brahma only benefits temporarily, and cannot constantly mature them, while the Buddha constantly and continuously matures the minds of those who are to be tamed, so it is not like Brahma, but more excellent. In this way, from the perspective of constantly maturing the crops of those who are to be tamed, radiating infinite rays of wisdom is like the sun's

Just as rays of light cause crops to ripen forever, yet the sun only appears occasionally, and does not permanently destroy darkness day and night. The Buddha, however, continuously and perpetually destroys the darkness of ignorance, therefore he is not the same as the sun, but is particularly superior. In this way, in terms of permanently destroying darkness, the secret of the mind, the radiance of non-discriminating wisdom, is like the radiance of a wish-fulfilling jewel that permanently destroys darkness day and night. However, jewels are also possessed by animals such as nagas, so they are not difficult to obtain. The Buddha is difficult to obtain for those who lack fortune, therefore he is not the same as a jewel, but is particularly superior. In this way, in terms of being difficult to obtain, the secret of speech, expounding various excellent teachings, is like sound and images that are not truly established externally or internally, and are therefore difficult to obtain. However, sound and images arise suddenly, relying on conditions. The Buddha is self-arisen and unconditioned, therefore he does not arise relying on conditions, therefore he is not the same as sound and images, but is particularly superior. In this way, in terms of not arising from conditions and not being manifestly conditioned, the secret of the body, displaying infinite manifestations, is like the sky appearing in various ways, but is the same as being unconditioned. However, the sky is not the basis or support of virtue, while the Buddha is the basis or support of white virtuous dharmas, therefore he is not the same as the sky, but is particularly superior. In this way, in the world, all the perfections of beings that are beyond the world are the support or basis in which they abide, therefore it is like the great mandala of the earth that supports all things. Furthermore, in this way, it is the basis of perfections that transcend the world, the perfect Buddhas attain great enlightenment, and relying on it, the path to transcend the world, such as the Three Vehicles and other sacred Dharmas.
