In terms of possession, it is called Tathagata; in terms of its essence, which is never false, constantly un欺骗 and will not change into other Dharma nature, becoming the object of the wisdom of the noble ones, in terms of possession, it is called the Noble Truth; in terms of its realm, which is pure in nature from the beginning and all adventitious defilements are completely pacified, in terms of possession, it is Nirvana. This is what is said. Elaborating on the nature of the meaning is divided into two: elaborating on the meaning of non-duality, and elaborating on the meaning of Nirvana. Among them, the meaning of non-duality is: because of truly knowing all the various aspects of all knowable and known dharmas, therefore, for the complete and perfect enlightenment, it is called Buddha; for all adventitious defilements, the two obscurations and their habitual tendencies are completely eliminated, it is called Nirvana. In this way, in terms of complete understanding, it is called the perfect Buddha; in terms of complete purification, it is called the non-abiding Nirvana. These are only differences in name, because they completely converge in the same meaning of the Tathagatagarbha. For the sake of the pure object of the wisdom of the noble ones, in the uncontaminated realm, it is indivisible, inseparable, and non-dual. This is what is said. The meaning of Nirvana is: because it is vast and all lineages are fully possessed, therefore it is the quality of possessing all aspects; because the light is boundless and immeasurable, therefore it is the quality of possessing countless numbers; because it is profound and difficult to fathom, therefore it is the quality of possessing inconceivable numbers; because the two obscurations and their habitual tendencies are completely purified, therefore it is the quality of possessing stainlessness, etc.; in the uncontaminated realm, for the manifestation of the Dharmakaya of indivisible nature, it is called the ultimate liberation Nirvana. The so-called liberation nature, in terms of truly realizing Suchness, is also the Tathagata. This is what is said. In order to determine these through metaphors, there is determination through the metaphor of a painting, and determination through the metaphor of the sun. Among them, the metaphor of a painting is: for example, how to draw gods, etc.

The painters who paint, among those skilled in each category of different limbs such as the head and hands, if any painter who knows any one limb like the head goes elsewhere, that portion of his will surely cease, and he will not be able to paint. This is a general explanation. Then, after a while, the great monarch king commanded those painters, saying, "On this canvas, all of you painters, completely paint the image of my king," and bestowed the canvas. After hearing that command, each of them diligently engaged in the work of painting whatever they knew. Clearly working on that painting, if one of the painters who knows something like the head goes from that place to another place, then because that painter who paints the head has gone to another place, and because that one painter is incomplete, the painting of the king's image, like all the limbs such as the head not being complete, is like that. As it is said in the Sutra of Jewel Crest, this is used as an example to illustrate this meaning. What is the meaning symbolized by many painters who completely paint all those limbs? That is, giving without attachment to anything, discipline without the stain of wrongdoing, patience that never wavers, and diligence that rejoices in virtue, included by the word "etc.," meditation that focuses single-mindedly on the object, and wisdom that thoroughly distinguishes all phenomena. Emptiness, which possesses all excellent methods, manifested as the Dharmakaya, is spoken of as being like the complete image of a well-painted king. In short, even if one painter is missing, the painting cannot be complete, and it can only be completed when all are complete. Similarly, even if one method is missing, merit cannot be perfected, and only when all are complete can all merits be perfected, and liberation and nirvana are inseparable from these.

Transcending suffering is the universality of attaining the perfect fruition. (End quote.) In the analogy of the sun, it is shown to be similar to the sun in accordance with the Dharma, and the reason why there is no Nirvana other than the Buddha. Among them, the similarity to the sun is: the wisdom that is inseparable from the four qualities, as well as the primordial wisdom, and liberation, these in order, are for the purpose of revealing, illuminating, and purifying, therefore the three are without difference, so the light, the radiating rays, the mandala of the sun is pure, these three are without difference, and are the same as the Dharma. (End quote.) The reason why there is no Nirvana other than the Buddha is: from beginningless time, the element that has been close by, the naturally pure realm, the Tathagatagarbha is inseparable from all the ultimate qualities such as power, and its manifestation is the ultimate liberation, therefore, the perfect Buddha who has the wisdom vision without attachment to all knowable objects, if not attained, then the perfect Nirvana that is liberated from all obscurations will not be attained. For example, just as one cannot see the pure mandala of the sun by abandoning the light and the radiating rays. (End quote.) Summarizing the meaning of what has been said and connecting it: As explained above in detail, like the limit of the final end, the constant Dharma nature, the Victorious Tathagatagarbha, the Dharmadhatu, this is the way of determining or establishing, from the meaning of the essence to the meaning of the inseparable qualities, is well expressed and clarified by what is called the ten aspects. (End quote.) This is a summary of the meanings that have been said. From beginningless time, it has been close by, but the unrelated nature, the sudden defilements, obscured by countless layers of afflictions, dwells within, from beginningless time it has been close by and related nature, the pure Dharma nature essence, in order to clearly symbolize it, these nine analogies, one should understand the Tathagatagarbha Sutra as it is. (End quote.)
