In order to benefit the fields of those to be tamed, relying on having true wisdom and great compassion, because wisdom understands all selflessness, it is not defiled by the faults of cyclic existence. Because compassion takes care of all sentient beings, it is not defiled by the faults of extinction from suffering. Abiding in the middle of the sky, possessing stainless concentration and the essence of limitless doors of dharani, becoming the cloud of the fully capable Buddha, because it is the cause of increasing the inexhaustible harvest of virtue. So it is said. Among the two ways of transformation from a vessel, the example is: Just as when rain falls from the sky, the touch is cool, the taste is delicious and sweet, it is soft because it does not harm the body, it is light because it is easy to strike, it is very clear and has no odor, even if drunk in large quantities it does not harm the stomach, it does not harm the throat, the water with one taste possessing eight qualities, gradually emerges and falls from the collection of clouds, and because the underlying base has different locations such as salty or unsalted, it transforms into very many different tastes and abilities such as salty and sweet. So it is said. The meaning is: Similarly, when the Buddha's teachings are proclaimed, the supreme noble path possesses eight qualities, and the rain of water with one taste in the profound suchness, gradually emerges and falls from the essence of the cloud of great compassion that is extremely vast and extensive, and because the elements, intentions, and faculties of the beings to be tamed are different, through differentiation it transforms into many different tastes such as the three vehicles. So it is said. There are three ways of not relying, briefly explained with three metaphors: All the teachings of the Buddhas, in the manner of one taste in suchness, rain down the teachings of the supreme vehicle, for the aggregates of sentient beings who are very clear and have definite faith, and the aggregates of sentient beings who are uncertain in between faith and non-faith, and the aggregates of sentient beings who are definitely hateful and unbelieving in wrong views.
