Moreover, not relying on the laws that obstruct, but for the sake of others, in order to attain liberation, it is necessary to prevent afflictions such as attachment. Therefore, there is no fear in teaching all the laws that obstruct. In the past, also, because of fondness for the white dharma, one entered the path of purification. For the sake of others, in order to certainly be liberated from samsara, there is no fear in teaching all the paths of the three vehicles. In the past, also, because of not having pride, one taught the Dharma. For one's own benefit, one promised to attain the cessation that exhausts all that should be abandoned, which is fearlessness. Thus, based on four meanings, one vowed to be a supreme guide. One roared the lion's roar in the assembly. In the realm of Brahma, one turned the wheel of Dharma. For those ascetics, Brahmins, gods, demons, and Brahmas who are arrogant with austerity, lineage, enjoyment, ability, and detachment, whoever refutes in accordance with the Dharma or correctly sees the signs of refutation, in order to obtain physical comfort, verbal caution, and mental fearlessness. The qualities of fearlessness of the Buddhas are fourfold. That is its meaning. The activity is: relying on having attained the four fearlessnesses, for the sake of oneself and others, one promises that one has known all the things that should be known, such as suffering. And, in order for others to also know, one teaches all the dharmas that should be known, such as suffering. And, one promises that one has abandoned all the things that should be abandoned, such as karma and afflictions. And, in order for others to also abandon, one teaches all the obstructing dharmas, that is, the dharmas of the origin. And, one promises that one has practiced all the aspects of the path truth that should be practiced. And, in order for others to also practice, one teaches all the path truths that lead to liberation. And, one promises that one has attained the ultimate and extremely pure cessation truth that should be attained, that is, the cessation truth with two aspects of purity.

And, in order that others may also obtain it, he teaches the Dharma that prevents the exhaustion of defilements. Thus, he himself undertakes to fully realize it, and in order that others may also realize it as it is, he never fears to speak of the Four Noble Truths. The great teachers, the perfect Buddhas, enter without hindrance into speaking the holy Dharma in any gathering of ascetics and Brahmins, etc. This is its meaning. To be determined by example: For example, the lion, the king of mountains, even if he always dwells in the depths of a dense forest, has no fear. Tigers and elephants, etc., beasts with great power, also roam without fear. Similarly, one abides in goodness, does not depend on others, is steadfast in mind, and possesses perfect skills. Similarly, in a gathering of many arrogant people such as ascetics and Brahmins, the King of Sages, the lion among men, is also without fear, because he himself has become the most excellent, abides in goodness, does not depend entirely on others, is constantly in meditation, is steadfast in mind, and even the most subtle things to be abandoned have been abandoned, therefore he abides possessing perfect skills. This is its meaning. Non-mixture has two aspects: showing the actual meaning, and combining with examples. Showing the actual meaning has two aspects: the individual differences of the eighteen unmixed qualities, and again explaining their function and how they are obtained. Differences have two aspects: explaining in detail separately, and summarizing and showing others. Detailed explanation has four sections, of which six are summarized by conduct: showing that the Buddha's body, speech, and mind actions are not inverted. That is, formerly in the stage of learning the path, for sentient beings who have lost their way, not mistakenly indicating the path, etc., through habit, finally when becoming a Buddha, for jumping and running, etc., errors completely controlled by the three poisons, are no longer possessed. That is, there is one unique action of the body. Formerly, one could not bear disputes, and having abandoned false words and meaningless speech, etc., therefore there is no dispute.
