Just as in the house of a poor person, there is a great treasure of inexhaustible jewels hidden under the ground, but that poor person, even the treasure does not say, "I am here," and that person does not know that the treasure is in his own house, so he cannot escape the suffering of poverty. Similarly, although the treasure of the Dharmadhatu, which possesses infinite uncontaminated qualities, abides in one's own mind, sentient beings do not know this, just like a poor person who has a treasure but cannot find it. Just as some wise people learn the method of extracting treasures, in order for those sentient beings who are to be tamed to extract the treasure of the Dharmadhatu from under the ground of adventitious defilements, thereby manifesting and obtaining the Dharmakaya with two purities, in the infinite realms of the world, the great guide, the perfectly complete Buddha, is born and teaches the supreme Dharma. Thus it is said. An analogy of the Dharmadhatu abiding in sentient beings, like a sprout in bark: How is it? Just as in the fruit peel of trees such as mango and palm, the seed that exists, when it meets with conditions, will produce a sprout, and those who have the Dharma without obstacles to destroy it, cultivate the fertile land well, water it in time, apply a lot of fertilizer, etc., possessing the corresponding conditions, like the king of trees, the perfect and complete object gradually achieves. Thus it is said. Its meaning is: The afflictions such as the ignorance of sentient beings, like the pod of a fruit peel, contain the Dharmadhatu or realm, the good Tathagatagarbha, also like the gradual achievement of trees due to the completeness of conditions. The goodness of the accumulation of the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, relying on this goodness, gradually traverses the grounds and paths, and thus becomes the object of the Sugata King, the perfectly complete Buddha. Thus it is said. Again, it is said: For example, the moistening water.

That which ripens is the light of the sun, that which does not decay is the wind, that which holds is the earth, and the warm seasons such as spring, and the conditions that open opportunities are space and so forth, just as from the gaps in the shells of fruits such as the tala and the niamra, the fruit gradually grows into the substance of a tree, so too, the afflictions of sentient beings are sudden, contained within what is like the skin of a fruit, the essence of the perfectly enlightened Buddha, like the sprout of a seed, also from the gathering of conditions, just as a tree grows, so too, the virtuous conditions of the two accumulations that become the cause of liberation, from this and that, directly seeing the realm of reality, gradually increasing, eventually attaining the fruit of perfect enlightenment. Thus it is said. Like a Buddha image in tattered clothes, an example of how the realm of reality abides in sentient beings: For example, a supreme Buddha image of the Tathagata made of various jewels, but covered by the foul odor of tattered clothes, even though it is located at a crossroads, people cannot see it, but after some time, a deva sees it, and in order to liberate it from that evil obscuration, just as in the middle of the road he speaks and shows the meaning of the Buddha image to those people. Thus it is said. Its meaning is: The eye of the wisdom of the Buddha, which sees all knowable things without obstruction, also sees the very nature of the essence of the Tathagata, covered by various sudden afflictions such as desire, even pervading beings such as worms in feces and so forth, just as removing the obscuration of the Buddha image, in order to liberate that realm of reality from sudden defilements, he shows the means of practicing the path, the immeasurable doors of the sacred Dharma. Thus it is said. Again it is said: For example, a beautiful Buddha image of the Tathagata made of the nature of jewels, covered by a foul-smelling

Just as some gods with pure divine eyes see it from the crossroads of the road covered with rotten earth, in order to be freed from that bad obscuration, just as it is clearly shown to people. Similarly, the Tathagatagarbha, the realm that is obscured by obscurations like rotten clothes of afflictions and is on the path of samsara, even seeing that even inferior beings such as animals have it, in order to be freed from sudden defilements, the fully enlightened Buddha teaches the holy Dharma in accordance with the capacity of the beings to be tamed. That is the meaning. Like a woman with a king, the analogy of the state of Dharmadhatu in sentient beings is: How a woman who is ugly and has no protector lives in inns and crossroads, etc., where those who have no protector live, but in her own womb she has a child with the glory of a Chakravartin king, because it is obscured by the womb, so that sentient being in her own belly does not know that he is the lord of men, and therefore suffers fear and suffering such as being despised by others. That is the meaning. Its meaning is: Those who are born in various places of samsara are accompanied by suffering, just like living in a home without a protector, because sudden afflictions are impure sentient beings, even if there is a protector, they do not know it. Like a woman with a king in her womb. Just as that woman becomes a protector because she has a king, what kind of Dharma nature does that sentient being have that makes him a supreme protector? Because the realm of self-nature is pure and without defilement, the Tathagatagarbha has manifested, so in order to protect from all fears, it is like the king in the womb of that woman. That is the meaning. Again it is said: How a woman's body is with dirt,
