Abides. The sudden black stain of obscuration is, Like a pile of clouds and smoke. The self-luminous primordial Buddha is, Like a precious treasure in a poor man's house. The sudden stain of obscuration is bad, Like earth and stones covering jewels. The self-luminous Dharmakaya Vajradhara, Like gold dust in the earth. The sudden stain of obscuration is conceptual thought, Like the mud that obscures the gold dust. The self-luminous Hevajra, Like a fruit in an ear of corn, abides. The very consciousness of the sudden stain, Like the husk covering the essence. The self-luminous Chakrasamvara, For example, abides like a lump of honey. The sudden stain of obscuration is fluctuation, Like the bees gathered on it. The self-luminous Mahamaya, Like a precious Buddha statue, abides. The sudden stain of the obscuration of samsara is, It is thought to be like a silk garment. The self-luminous Vajrabhairava, Like a rainbow in the clear sky, abides. The sudden stain, the ocean of birth, is, Like a cloud of black obscurations. The self-luminous Guhyasamaja, Like a thousand-petaled lotus on the ground, abides. The sudden stain, the ocean of aging, is, Like mud with many obscuring faults. The self-luminous Buddha skull is, It abides like sesame oil in sesame seeds. The sudden stain, the ocean of sickness, is, Its obscuration is like black sesame seeds. The self-luminous Hayagriva Yangsang Khros, Like a fire dwelling in the steadfast ones. The sudden stain, the ocean of death, is, Obscuration is like a cluster of hailstones. The self-luminous Vajrasana four places are, Like a pure, stainless silver mirror. The sudden stain, the ocean of suffering, is, Like dust covering a mirror. The self-luminous Vajra Dakini, Like the blazing sword of an accomplished one, abides. The sudden stain, the root of affliction, is, Like the sheath covering the sword. The self-luminous Vajravarahi, Like uncompounded space, abides. Suddenly,

The seed of temporary defilements of samsara, its obscurations exist like clouds and dust. The self-luminous three-family protectors abide like a stainless conch of Dharma. Temporary defilements, the ocean of wrong views, exist like a sheath covering it. The self-luminous Sugata-garbha abides like pure water in the center of the earth. Temporary defilements, the ocean of darkness, exist like turbidity obscuring it. If one does not know the supreme Dharma that distinguishes in this way, it is like taking poison for medicine and copper for gold. These temporary mind and mental fluctuations, if taken as body and wisdom, destroy both oneself and others. If one knows the nature of mind, it is Buddhahood; merely not knowing is said to be the cause of samsara. These contradict the words of the Victorious Ones, and should be understood as thieves of the Dharma. Those black wrong views of desire, for example, fire, if known, is cool; if unknown, one desires heat. Similarly, for example, the nature of mind is Dharmakaya; if poison is known, it is nectar; if unknown, it is poison. A cliff, if known, is a great plain; if unknown, it is a cliff. A razor, if known, does not cut; if unknown, it cuts. Thus, desire is like a child grinding ink, saying he will draw a white bird. Similarly, consciousness does not change into white Dharma; ignorant wrong views circle his head. In glorious Shambhala, free from wrong views, many beings who know the nature of mind reside. In the land of snows, only I, child, should you enter the true Dharma. Merely entering is not enough; if you want to be liberated from the sheath of temporary defilements, the profound path of liberation, Vajra Yoga, should be practiced without a moment's distraction. This letter sent to you, the fortunate one, is the special instruction of glorious Shambhala, the heart words of the Victorious Three-Family Protectors. It is not given to others except you. Why is this so? Because the supreme Dharma of profound Other-Emptiness is little known in the land of Tibet. Especially those with low intelligence, little learning, and wrong views, will generate slander upon hearing it. Therefore, secrecy is very important, there is a seal. The support of the letter is completely covered with a protective banner. The yellow hat and robe I wear, two items, I offer as auspicious symbols for you. This virtue.
