’Byams pa (meaning "Vast One") is: An emanation of the compassion of the complete and perfect Buddha, the Sorrowless One (myangan med), from the unceasing play of manifestations, the great accomplished one Humkara (ཧཱུྃ་ཀཱ་ར།) appeared in the sacred land, and in Bol country (bol yul), there was Drogben Lotsawa ('brog ban lo tsA), one of the twenty-five kings and subjects, and in the later dissemination period, Ngok Lekpai Sherab (rngog legs pa'i shes rab), the great treasure revealer Namchak Meybar (gnam lcags med 'bar), Rigdzin Chokyi Drakpa (rig 'dzin chos kyi grags pa), and so on, after countless rebirths, he consciously took birth in order to spread the precious teachings of the profound and ultimate Great Perfection. He possesses intelligence and the capacity for liberation, and is a virtuous person. He is a lion of speech who is proficient in both sutra and tantra, and is a great scholar who is independent of others in his knowledge of scriptures, tantras, and all cultural subjects. He is a virtuous friend of the complete teachings, a master of yoga who has transformed the profound and ultimate realization into his own experience. He is a great person who possesses many qualities of learning and realization. He is widely known as Dzogchen Rabjampa (rdzogs chen rab), the Great Vast One, the victory banner of the teachings. The place where this being was born is in Uru (dbu ru), in Phenyul ('phan yul), into a prominent family of landowners who owned many subjects and households. Because he did not wish to manage household affairs, at the age of thirteen he fled to the great monastic college of Drepung Kyetsal ('bras yul skyed tshal) to become a monk.

Having revered all the throne teachers of Ü (dbus) and Toe (stod smad) etc., as lamas, he mastered almost all the teachings of Pal Riwo Geden (dpal ri bo dga' ldan), especially the three deities of Guhyasamaja, Chakrasamvara, and Vajrabhairava (including Lower Volume, p. 652). As a close attendant of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama, he became the leader of all the lama's disciples, becoming an inner member of the monastic community by becoming an attendant to the monk Jamyang Drakpa. When he had listened to many profound teachings of both the New and Old traditions from both the Great Fifth All-Knowing One and Nesten Jamyang Drakpa, father and son, and thereby severed the bonds of doubt from listening and contemplating, the teacher Jamyang Drakpa said, "You seem to be an emanation of the teacher Manjushri Mitra, and you have already become very famous and knowledgeable in the New tradition, but from now on, it seems that you will also master the great system of Dzogchen of the Ancient Mantrayana." Therefore, he became certain that this lama possessed unobstructed direct perception and attained pure vision. This was the time when the accomplished master, the great Dzogchenpa Ye, was residing. At that time, almost all the important attendants of the Great All-Knowing One, the Dalai Lama, who was managed by Nesten, went to the Dzogchenpa to secretly request teachings, so this lama also joined their ranks. By listening to experiential instructions, realization arose effortlessly in his mind, and he became the best of all those who requested instructions. The accomplished Rinpoche was also very pleased, and his mind and heart became one. The lama himself also awakened the connection of the path of aspiration and the good imprints of the past from many great lifetimes, and he could not bear to be separated due to the longing of devotion. After that, due to the command and prophecy of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama, the Dzogchenpa was urged to go to Dokham (mdo khams) region for the benefit of others. The two, teacher and disciple (Lower Volume, p. 653), along with their monastic community, traveled to Dokham. They stayed at Nagshoe Kharwa (nags shod mkhar ba) about three meditation drag (bsam gtan grags) away. Then, gradually traveling to Domey (mdo smad), they arrived at a place called Damkyi Tramlungpa (dam skyid bkram lung pa) in the territory of Sakyong Chenpo Dege (sde dge), and there, the Dzogchenpa established the monastic college of Orgyen Samten Choling (o rgyan bsam gtan chos gling), a center for teaching and practice, and diligently provided all the necessary support, such as searching for land to build the main temple. The accomplished master himself went to various places
