Therefore, those of previous generations held only Phurba as the main deity of their Yidam, which is known from the profound teachings. Let me briefly recount the story of how Vajrakila flourished. It was transmitted through the feet of the Vidyadhara master Padmasambhava. There are various categories known as the King of Phurba tradition, the Jomo tradition, the Lcam tradition, and also the Snanam or Rong tradition, Lha Nag and Lha Phra, which are named after their body colors, and so on. However, all of these are of the same essence, and they are known by those different names due to the emphasis on different aspects of the instructions and the distinctions in the transmission. Among them, the first, the King tradition, originated from Samye. The great master bestowed it upon the Emperor Trisong Detsen, Jomo Kharchenza, and the three translators who were invited, hence the name. The Jomo tradition is as follows: When the master was about to depart, Ngamdre Sale, Chokroza Palgyi Chonema, and Kharchenza Tsoyal, these three requested instructions. The master said that they needed empowerment. When they said, "Then please grant empowerment," immediately he uttered "Hum Hum" (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुँ हुँ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum Hum), and three wisdom mandalas actually appeared. At that time, the master said, "Do you want to receive empowerment from the wisdom deity or from me?" Then Chokroza said, "There is no one more stern and kind than the master, but I will request empowerment from this wisdom deity who has actually appeared." Kharchenza said, "Although the wisdom deity has actually appeared, it is your miraculous power, so I will request empowerment from you, master." Ngamdre said, "Please grant me the master's intention and union." Then the master recited "Samharana Hum" (Tibetan: སཾ་ཧ་ར་ཎ་ཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: संहारण हुँ, Sanskrit Romanization: saṃhāraṇa hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Gather Hum), and gathered the three mandalas into his heart, so Chokroza did not get the opportunity to receive empowerment. After that, he fully bestowed the four empowerments upon Kharchenza and Ngamdre. During the time of requesting the empowerment teachings, Kharchenza made four requests: Since we women are of inferior intellect, please teach us a concise and meaningful teaching; since the bodies of us women are full of afflictions, please teach us a teaching that subdues afflictions; since the bodies of us women are very busy, please teach us a dharma that is easy to practice; since the bodies of us women are prone to breaking vows, please teach us a dharma that is powerful. After making these requests, the master was first pleased with the request for empowerment.

Moreover, he was pleased to receive instructions in between. He contemplated the eight great accomplishments, thinking that all four of them were complete in this root Vajrakila. He transmitted to Jomo Kharchenza the essence of condensing the attainment of enlightenment from emptiness and the path of subjugation from the lower part. Jomo then told her brother Kharchen Palgyi Wangchuk, and it gradually spread. The tradition known as Lamluk is as follows: Chokroza did not request empowerment from the lama, but from the yidam, and as a result, the yidam merged into the heart of the lama, and the opportunity for empowerment was cut off. Although it is said that it was taught in the manner of the outer Bon tradition, Jomo Tsoyal later granted permission again, and it was transmitted from Jomo to Chokroza. Another tradition known as Nanamluk is: it is entirely transmitted from Rongzom Chenpo, and the transmission is as previously stated, and should be understood. Some categories of other transmissions will be briefly explained below. The realization attained from that Yidam Dorje Phurba is inconceivable, and it is impossible to describe everything, only some of the famous ones will be mentioned (Upper Volume, p. 511). Also, in India, a sandalwood forest caught fire, and after many days the fire did not go out, and the forest was almost completely burned, and many sentient beings were on the verge of death. The master erected a Sengdeng Vajrakila eight fingers long, and the fire went out, and the forest grew more luxuriant than before, and he revived those sentient beings who had died and were on the verge of death. When Master Vimalamitra was practicing on the banks of the Ganges River, a great naga king there could not bear the rays of his mantra, so he entrusted the great outer ocean to the sky and sent down fierce hailstones on the master. The Ganges River flooded and the valley could not contain it. The master erected a Vajrakila eight fingers long, and the Ganges River split to both sides, and a road appeared in the middle, allowing passage. The Nepalese Shila Manju had a dangerous rakshasa rock on top of the mandala, which obstructed the master's intention, and when the Vajrakila was rotated, the rock on top of the mandala collapsed into mustard seed size. There is also another historical story: In India, when there was internal and external discord, the king said, "Debate in three days. Whoever wins, whoever has the greatest magical power, I will serve as his servant." To this, the master said, "All the tantras of speech abide at the limit of terminology. Without seeing the true meaning, there is no liberation."
