I have completed all the instructions. Thinking only of practicing meditation, I went to the northern mountains to look for a monastery. At Yolwa Drak, I met Dampa Yolchupa, who was carving rock. I asked, "Are you building a monastery here?" He said, "Yes." I asked, "Is there no other place to go besides here?" He said, "On the other side, there is a conjoined apple tree. This place is stronger than that, so build here." Then, Dampa Ston Shakya went to the place where the conjoined apple tree grew on the rock. He found some tsampa balls near the spring and took it as a good omen. He stayed there and practiced meditation, and a special realization arose. Gods and demons obeyed his commands. He was able to benefit many disciples, and thus he was known as Dampa Se Drakpa.

There, he stayed on a solitary mountain and practiced, so that all the Dharma arose in his mind, and appearances vanished into emptiness like a fog, unable to be stopped. When he stayed in Sagor Phur in Yeru, lightning struck above his sleeping place, but he was not harmed. When others asked if lightning had struck, he said, "Did lightning strike?" When asked if he was not harmed, he said, "Sound and emptiness are inseparable. Where is the inherent nature of lightning?" Thus, he remained in the great state of a master of yoga. Through meditation alone, he maintained a monastic college in retreat for eighteen years, and passed away at the age of seventy. This holy being had many disciples, including Zhipo Duntse, Tonpa Lakyap, Upa Jowo Sod, and Nyington Nyima Dorje, all of whom were learned in the scriptures. In addition, Meton Gonpo of Lato and Dyal Kunga Dorje also relied on him. His heart-son, Zhipo Dudtsi, came from a lineage of scholars and accomplished heroes for generations. His father was Sangye Dakchung, who was known as Dakchung because he followed after Dakpo Gyare. He went to Lhodrak and worked for the benefit of beings at the monastery of Lhotö Phurmong Gang. He was invited by the patrons of Zha, who offered him Lhadong Monastery and Ukak Monastery in Zha to reside in, and his disciples increased greatly. He had a son with a woman named Jomo Wangmo, who was born at Lhadong Monastery in Zha. When he was placed in a fine cloth, a rainbow appeared. When he was about two years old, his father had a wonderful dream and said, "I am about to die. After death, I will go to the realm of the Vidyadharas. This child will also benefit others." Then he passed away. When Zhipo Rinpoche grew up, he was very compassionate and gave all the mended clothes to a poor beggar on the road to Mebar. Then, a clever sorceress said, "Your son will become such a person that all the gods and demons of the world will gather around him and make offerings to him." When autumn came, someone said, "Everyone is coming to recite, and they are giving tormas. Fool, you should also listen to the water torma. We are also coming to recite." So they came to recite.

After that child went, he said to the local gods and demons of Gzad Lungpa, the local gods and demons of Nyang Nag Olpo: 'The vagrant Ulu Gyalnag is not going to anyone's house today, but is reciting scriptures and praying for blessings at the old woman Wangma's house, so the blessings here are greater.' After saying this, he scattered. The mother angrily winnowed the barley. There was a field called Reshi there, which, although as good as in previous years, only yielded forty khals of grain. That year, although there were not many ears of barley, fifty khals were harvested, so it was said that this might be an emanation. Therefore, he was sent to his uncle Dampa Se Dragpa to study. For three years, he listened well to the Dzogchen Rong tradition's egg-shaped practice, secret instructions, and so on. When the lama passed away, his tears choked him, and he said that he could not remember anything. At the age of sixteen, he approached the feet of Lhakhang Yonten Zung in Kyilkhar. He stayed there for many years and developed wisdom in the three aspects of generation stage, completion stage, and Great Perfection. The main focus of his practice and teachings was on the mind aspect, and he also said that he only practiced the mind aspect. He listened to twenty-four great tantras of the mind aspect, such as the Kunje Gyalpo and the Ten Sutras. Regarding the root mind section, he listened to fourteen different explanations of Korlung, Ronglung, Khamlung, and so on. From the great meditation texts of his own tradition, he heard most of the meditation texts such as 'The Sun of Yoga Wisdom,' 'The Lamp of the Eye of Contemplation,' 'The Sun of the Heart of Contemplation,' 'Cutting Flesh and Nails' (Vol. 1, p. 444), 'Khulan Khungdab,' and 'Vajrasattva's Purification.' Regarding the oral transmission, he listened to the instructions of Kor, Rong, and Kham, as well as the oral transmission of the Brahmins, the Ke Tsang Nyengyu, the Dzong Thrang Nyengyu, Klong, and so on, which were countless. Regarding the Great Perfection, he particularly clarified his views through study and reflection. At the age of sixteen, he began to teach, giving the emptiness teachings of the Korlung tradition, and was recognized as a scholar. At that time, a person named Lhaje Nubmen said: 'Josay of Utsang, you are like my Khache colt.' It is said that he was given a salary of eleven khals. He stayed with Lama Lhakhangwa for fourteen years. In the meantime, he also stayed at his uncle's monastery, Se Drag, and did some meditation, practice, and teaching. After finishing his studies, a disciple of his father named Lodé came to welcome him, so he went to Gzad and heard the hooting of an owl.
