Some believe that he appeared during the time of Tsegs pa dpal. Others believe that he was born during the time of Ralpa can and lived until the time of Khri bkrashis brtsegs pa. Still others say that he was born in the time of the early emperor Khri srong lde'u btsan and later in the time of Ralpa can. There are various arguments, such as in the Great Edict: "These are the instructions given to me by the Indian scholar Bimala Mitra and the Ugyen Khenpo Padma (Vol. 1, p. 387), as well as the Nepalese scholar Basudhara and the Tibetan scholar Jnana Kumara." Therefore, there is no dispute that he was born during the time of Emperor Khri srong. Based on his lifespan of one hundred and thirteen years, they postponed his time of birth and changed his clan to Gnubs and his place of residence to sGrags, fabricating two incarnations, which are meaningless. Here it is said that the young monk Sangs rgyas of the Gnubs clan, aged one hundred and thirty, is not a final conclusion, but is said according to the circumstances of the time, indicating that he attained the Vidyadhara of Longevity and lived until the time of Lord dPal 'khor btsan. His father was the illustrious Wang phyug of the Gnubs clan, known as rDo rje khri gtsug. At the age of seven, he learned reading and writing from 'O bran dpal gyi gzhon nu. He was ordained by Khenpo Bodhisattva. He met the master Basudhara in Samye and offered three srang of gold, hearing some instructions. Before the master left, he allowed him to go to Nepal again, so from a young age he had the idea of going to India and Nepal. It is said that he went to India seven times in total, the first time being at the age of thirteen. He received the empowerment of the Great Accomplishment Eight Teachings mandala from the feet of the great master Padmasambhava and attained siddhis. Later, he took fifty gold zo (Vol. 1, p. 388) obtained from selling land and went to India and Nepal. He heard many tantras and instructions from the master Basudhara. He also relied on the Khenpo Chos rgyal skyong of Do Lung and the master of fierce mantras Rom bu gu hya. He relied on many scholars residing in India, Nepal, and Bru sha. In India, he heard some teachings of Do Lung from Khenpo Chos rgyal skyong, and especially heard the Do dgongs pa 'dus from the Khenpo Che btsan skyes of Bru sha.

He fully realized and comprehended everything. He resided in Samye Monastery as a great translator and also translated the sacred Dharma. Relying solely on seclusion, he thought that, in general, during this time when the laws of the kingdom were decaying and sectarian conflicts were flourishing, Nubchen and his sons suffered great hardships. In particular, in his previous life, he was born in India as a person named Shanpa Marutse, and by performing deeds for the benefit of sentient beings, he completely perfected the remaining lands to be tamed through fierce methods, and he foreshadowed the decline of the teachings of nephews and sons in Tibet. Many who harmed the teachings appeared one after another, and in order to subdue them with fierce mantras and protect the teachings, driven by the activities of the Buddhas, various circumstances arose, and arrogant locals appeared three times, killing two sons of the lineage. As it is said: Afflictions spread in the central region of Tibet, and the people plundered the food necessary for survival. Even a small Nub monk like me, from the depths of my heart, generated Bodhicitta in accordance with the Dharma, and would not allow the enemy of hatred to succeed, and in order to protect the teachings of the Buddha, immediately generated hatred (Upper Volume, page 389). Wanting to proclaim the greatness of the white Dharma, I learned various texts of evil mantras. Like this, the fierce mantras of the executioner retinue like the ocean were invited from China and Nepal. The (text) was lifted from the eleven teachers, but I consulted four wise men: the teacher Glorious Lion, the Indian Blood-Drinking Black One, the Destroyer Shantigarbha, and the Nepalese Vasudhara. Having penetrated the minds of the four wise men, the profound instructions were imprinted on my heart. Moreover, summarizing these key points came from the Nepalese teacher himself. As it is said: The Nepalese teacher, the king, said: The small Nub monk should come to the cave of Yangleshöd. Panchen Ro gave empowerment, and entrusted Manjushri Yamantaka as a deity. And so on. Thus, this teacher once went to India and accumulated merit at Vajrasana. From the expanse of the sky, a nine-pointed golden vajra appeared one cubit in front of him, and he did not catch it twice. The third time, when it landed between the thumb and forefinger of his right hand, it immediately transformed into the actual form of Vajrapani. He bestowed empowerment and blessings. The Buddhas
