He requested ordination from Khenpo Manjupa. In the Bird year, Lama Sonam Gyaltsen, at the Sonam Rabne Dharma Wheel of Samye Monastery, amidst the gathering of many monastic communities from Central Tibet with their respective Dharma masters, performed new Prajnaparamita explanations and offerings. Later, at the Tsetang Monastery's Dharma school, he studied Prajnaparamita, Vinaya, and Abhidharma with Gosri Shakya Gyaltsen, Khenpo Pelgyalwa, and Panditas, and attained the status of a scholar. When Dharma Lord Kunkhyen Chenpo returned from Lhomon and resided on the mountain of Zhung (upper part, p. 368), he went to meet him. He offered material gifts and distributed scarves to about three hundred attendants. He received many empowerments, instructions, and oral transmissions of Dzogchen Sangkor and Kunjye, etc., of Kama and Terma. The attendants urged, "You are the real Rag Wönpo, please stay nearby." But the Dharma Lord said, "He has learned a lot in his youth, the scope is vast. However, this characteristic holder has little faith, do not waste his wisdom." With loving-kindness, he instructed and bestowed body, speech, and mind supports, including a hat, robes, and a seat, and entrusted the lineage of meaning. Later, while engaging in various studies and reflections, considering that outward-looking learning leads to a small ultimate attainment, he resided in a secluded place in Gyalrong for practice, allowing the wisdom arising from meditation to flourish. At that time, when Kunkhyen Chenpo entered Drigung, he went to invite him, and at Chimpu, he gave the empowerment and instructions of Nyingthig. At the point of completing the Trekchö path, he passed away peacefully. He performed services, offerings, and built outer and inner support temples for his deceased body. After that, both his parents passed away successively, and he took care of their funerals. Resolving to engage solely in meditation and practice in seclusion, he went to Uru. At Ewam, he requested Dharma connections from Panchenpa, and especially at the retreat of Drolhun Drubling, he met Lama Orgyenpa, who was very pleased. There, through practicing Vajravarahi, he saw signs of blessings. From the Lama himself, he received the empowerment, instructions, and oral transmission of Dzogchen Sangwa Thig, and entrusted the teachings of Lungya Chö (upper part, p. 370) and Tang Drakpa Gyatso, etc., to great beings. In his later years, he resided at Drakriwoché Migpal Naktsö.

Thereafter, he remained there, never wavering from practice and teaching, and eventually passed away with wondrous signs. That place also became a practice center focused on the profound path, lasting for about two generations. Gyalsé Dawa Drakpa was born when the incarnate Drakpa Özer took a wife from Machik Gyaltsen Bum, and they had two sons. The elder, Nyima Özer, was invited to Ü-Tsang in the northern region to be the protector of the Sangha, greatly benefiting both the Dharma and the Sangha. The younger, Dawa Drakpa, was the prophesied son, born in Drai Kaldan Jiasampa Ling. From a young age, he displayed the qualities of a holy being. From the age of five, he effortlessly mastered writing, reading, and practice. He received all the teachings, including the empowerment and guidance of Clear Light Great Perfection, from his father. At the age of twelve, he took ordination at Tsetang Monastery, relying on Lobpon Gyaltsangpa, and studied the Collected Topics, Ornament for Clear Realization, Vinaya Sutra, and Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, becoming a scholar. At the age of eighteen, he received full ordination from Khenchen Sonam Zangpo at Tsalmin, and was given the name Lodrö Zangpo. He received many empowerments, instructions, and transmissions, including the Vinaya Pitaka, Seven Points of Mind Training, Six Yogas, Hayagriva, and Secret Wrathful One. In addition, he listened to and studied countless Dharma teachings from many scholars and accomplished masters such as Tsangpa Lodrö Drakpa, Jamyang Khache, and Khenchen Senge Palwa. In particular, from Thrulshik Sangye Ponpo, he received all the empowerments, instructions, and oral instructions of the Nyingtik Ma-bu-dzön Heart Drop Mother Ornament) of Kunkhyen Dharma Raja like pouring water from one vase to another, and mastered them all. He also received the transmission of the Dakini Nyingtik from Shuksep Yeshe Rabjam, from the treasure revealer to Gyalsé Lekdanpa. By the age of eighteen, he had cleared away all doubts about hearing and contemplation. At that time, he opened the Dharma gate of the Dakini Nyingtik to two hundred fortunate men and women. From then on, he systematically taught the Kalachakra empowerment of the two sections of Nyingtik every year for many years, leading all the disciples in Ü-Tsang to maturity and liberation. Later, on the way to Lho Mon, at Lhodrak Kabchen, the incarnate Dorje Senge established a Dharma seat, and most of the great Geshes in that area
