It is said that in order to protect the Dharma, a sprout was conceived from the union with Dromza Ma Sonam Gyen, who was self-arisen in the arts and mantra yoga. At that time, the mother dreamed of a great lion with the sun's rays blazing on its forehead (Vol. 1, p. 335), illuminating the three realms, and then dissolving into herself. Then, on the tenth day of the Dawa month in the Earth Monkey year of the fifth Rabjung (1248), he was freed from the amniotic fluid of the womb. Just as the god Indra did for the youth Siddhartha, the constellation Remati held the child, saying, "He will surely be protected." Then he returned the child to the mother and disappeared. When he spoke, signs appeared indicating that he was born with the power of faith, compassion, and wisdom. At the age of five, he understood without difficulty merely by being taught writing and reading. From the age of seven, he received from his father the empowerments, transmissions, instructions, and practices of the Eight Herukas, Guhyasamaja, Hayagriva, Vajrakilaya, Guru Peaceful and Wrathful, as well as medicine, astrology, and so on, mastering them all. At the age of nine, he recited the Twenty-Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra one hundred times at the Zachi market, understanding the meaning of the words. At the age of twelve, he took ordination at Samye Monastery (now Samye Town, Shannan Prefecture, Tibet) from Khenpo Samdrub Rinchen and Acharya Kunga Odzer, and was given the name Tsultrim Lodro. He studied Vinaya, and at the age of fourteen, he composed a new commentary, earning the reputation of a scholar. At the age of nineteen, at Sangpu Neutok, he mainly relied on the great Acharya Tsangonpa, especially Lhabrangpa Chöpal Gyaltsen, and Könnu Rinchen, who was known as the second Dharmakirti. He listened to all the scriptures and commentaries on Pramana, mastering the meaning of the words. From Acharya Könnu Gyalpo, he received the scriptures, commentaries, and instructions on the Root Wisdom and Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds, etc. From Pang Lotsawa Chenpo, he received the Abhidharma, as well as the explanations of the five profound sutras such as the Samadhiraja Sutra (Vol. 1, p. 336), and secular subjects such as poetics. Within three years, he completely mastered these contents, and debated in the monastic communities proficient in scriptures and reasoning. Because his eloquence, wisdom, and intellectual expression in the monastic assemblies were unparalleled, he was praised by everyone and was honored with the name "Long Many Books of Samye." The above are their respective experiences before and after.

From Sarwa Dampa Jhonnu Dondrup, he received all the empowerments, instructions, explanations, and oral transmissions of the Sutra Magical Mind Class, as well as the practice lineages of Guhyasamaja, etc. From Khenpo Tashi Rinchen, he received Chakrasamvara and the Six Yogas of the Path and Fruit, as well as the Zhi byed and Dzogchen Mind Class teachings. From Khenpo Jhonnu Dorje, he received the Bodhicharyavatara, the Compendium of Trainings, and the Stages of the Teachings, etc. From Thingmawa Sangye Drakpa O, he received the Eight Herukas Gathering of the Sugatas and many other secret mantra treasures. Furthermore, from Dharma Lord Rangjung Dorje, Lama Jamyangpa, Rinpoche Khropu, Khangmarwa, Lama Tsangduba, Zalu Rinpoche, Shukseb Ripa, and about twenty other spiritual friends whom he relied upon, he received the empowerments, oral transmissions, and subsequent permissions of the new and old secret mantras. He received explanations of many large and small sutras and tantras, as well as profound oral instructions, guidance, and pith instructions, and he also studied arithmetic and other worldly subjects, becoming proficient in all knowable phenomena. While studying the Vinaya at Sangpu (Vol. 1, p. 337), he practiced the recitation and accomplishment of Achala, Saraswati, and Vajravarahi Wisdom Dakini, and he saw their deities. In particular, the goddess Saraswati placed him in the palm of her hand and showed him the world, including the four continents and Mount Meru, for seven days, enabling him to attain the power of unobstructed wisdom. While residing at Sangpu, he became weary of the hateful disputes of the Khampas, so he retreated into a cave in Urtö Gyama Chokla for eight months, single-mindedly absorbed in samadhi, and thus arose special experiences of realization. At that time, the supreme noble mother, with an incomparably beautiful wisdom body, placed a precious diadem on his head and promised to always bless him and grant him accomplishments. At the age of twenty-seven, he went to the presence of the great vidyadhara Kuma Raja, who had been prophesied by his yidam deity. He met him at his residence in Yartö Gyam. He received many general empowerments and teachings. In particular, he received the supreme secret empowerments and teachings as practical instructions, and with the courage not to shrink from the hardships of food, clothing, and shelter, he integrated practice and pith instructions, thereby perfecting the realization of the Great Perfection, self-arisen non-duality. Furthermore, he received the tantras, commentaries, and minor pith instructions of these teachings.
