In short, from this Jambudvipa to the Thirty-three Heavens is forty thousand yojanas, from there to the Heaven of No Strife is also forty thousand yojanas, from there to the Tushita Heaven is eighty thousand yojanas, and so on. Calculating in this order, from the very top to Jambudvipa, there are five great trillion yojanas, eight trillion yojanas, one hundred million yojanas, six billion yojanas, three million yojanas, and two hundred thousand yojanas. From there to the Akanishta Heaven above is also the same amount, and from the Akanishta Heaven to here, it should be known that it is twice as much. As it is said: "How far is the place and the place below? From there to the top is also that far." The extent of the immeasurable palaces where each resides, the four, including the Heaven of No Strife, are equal to the extent of the top of Mount Sumeru, and some believe that from top to top, it is twice as large.

Being able to walk in the sky, etc. Because they ate the nectar earth essence, they lost those merits. Eating earth fat and nectar sprouts, as well as uncultivated rice, etc., the former gradually disappeared, and the latter gradually appeared. The sun, moon, and stars appeared in the sky. Because of coarse food, impurities were produced, and the male and female sexual organs also differentiated, giving rise to four types of sexual behavior, establishing families, and viviparous birth. This is called the three-combination era. Because rice was stored, it was covered with chaff, and it could not grow immediately after harvesting. A wise and kind person divided the rice equally among everyone, and because his own share was cancelled, everyone gave him a handful of rice (Volume 1, page 14), his share exceeded everyone else's, so he was enthroned as king. Because stealing, killing, and lying occurred, the two-combination and one-combination eras became times of strife, which refers to combining the phenomena of the Buddha Shakyamuni's teachings existing perfectly for twelve years and the appearance of hail, etc., with the previous four eras, which are the four eras from the aspect of discipline. The era of strife appearing and the first Buddha of that place being simultaneous, and enjoying all perfect things is the perfect era. Losing one foot and abiding in the three-combination era, etc., which is what is said in the sutras, are the four eras from the aspect of enjoyment. Because it became an era of strife, those who are born and live in the forest, possessing meditation and supernatural powers, are hermits. Those who live by poetry, etc., are Brahmins. Those who live by taxes are the royal caste. Those who do business, etc., are the Vaishya caste. Those who live by agriculture are the commoner caste. Those who live by evil deeds are the Chandalas. Similarly, animals, hungry ghosts, hells, etc., also gradually formed. The previous king was initially appointed as a field officer, and then given one-sixth of the income. He also governed the people equally and well, and because everyone respected him, he was called the king revered by the masses, and was the first king of humans in Jambudvipa in this fortunate eon. Such a world of vessel and essence, including Mount Sumeru and its surroundings in the four continents, from the wind circle to the Akanistha heaven, is called the world of the four continents. From there to the empty space of the same size, there exists a similar world, like this, from one to two counted to a thousand, surrounded by one
