This is the excellent method of revealing the ground. The definition is: As stated in the Compendium Sutra: "That which, when mounted, eliminates the suffering of all sentient beings, and manifestly accomplishes joy, happiness, and bliss, is the supreme vehicle." The divisions are two: large and small. The necessity is: There is the necessity of accomplishing both temporary and ultimate benefits. The result is: Definitely emerging from the three realms and attaining liberation. Third, explaining the distinctions in detail. As stated in the Self-Arisen Tantra: Attained. The Sutra and the Great Extensive Vehicle are: Eighty-four thousand inconceivable, vast, numerous, and profound, inconceivable, immeasurable, inexpressible, and inconceivable Great Vehicle. Thus, it is said that the divisions of the vehicle have inconceivable distinctions. If someone asks: Then, in the Vajra Heart Commentary, isn't it said: In the Buddhadharma, there is no fourth or fifth vehicle? Answer: This is because the Mantra Vehicle is included in the Bodhisattva Vehicle, and the cause vehicle and the result vehicle are not separated, but are considered to belong to the Great Vehicle, so only a general classification of the three vehicles is made. However, the distinctions of the Mantra Vehicle can be extensively explained, as stated in the Manjushri Illusion Net: "With various methods of vehicles, to awaken beings for their benefit (Upper Volume. 100)." Because various vehicles are taught, this is also the key point. Therefore, here the vehicles are divided into nine stages: arising guidance, asceticism, and the vehicle of power and means. That is, the vehicle of arising guidance is the three vehicles of Shravaka, Pratyekabuddha, and Bodhisattva, the vehicle of asceticism and mantra is the three vehicles of Kriya, Upa, and Yoga, and the vehicle of power and means is the three vehicles of Maha, Anu, and Ati Yoga. As stated in the Self-Arisen Tantra: The Great Extensive Vehicle is as follows, meaning there are nine classifications. Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha, as well as Bodhisattva. Kriya and Upa, as well as the Yoga Vehicle. Maha Anu Yoga, as well as the Great Perfection Ati. Thus, the nine are taught, which is the great teaching of the Buddhadharma. And so on. These are also divided according to the order of the capacity of the beings to be tamed, from small to large. As stated in the same scripture: Truly, there are three stages, namely, those with small capacity, those with large capacity, and those with medium capacity, which are taught in three stages. Those bound by conceptual thought are Shravakas, those with awareness are Pratyekabuddhas, and those with conceptual entry are Bodhisattvas. The three teachings for those with medium capacity are: for the extremely inferior, the Action Tantra, for the inferior ones

It also applies here. For those with consciousness, this is yoga itself. In the great three stages, for those with vast minds, it is the generation stage; for those with essential minds, it is the completion stage; and for the supremely secret, it is the great perfection. As it is said. First, among the three vehicles that guide beings, the path of the Shravakas is to be weary of the suffering of samsara and to seek liberation for oneself with the mind of renunciation. The way to enter the path is: By basing oneself on discipline, possessing hearing and thought, one should diligently practice meditation. As it is said, by restraining one's mind with any of the seven types of Pratimoksha vows, one enters the path of meditation. Primarily, one adopts and abandons through the Four Noble Truths. The Shravaka vehicle has two schools: the Sarvastivadins and the Sautrantikas. The former is so named because it follows the Great Vaibhashika. The latter believes that there are many hidden and provisional meanings in the scriptures, so views and tenets must be acknowledged according to the scriptures, which here refers to the Vaibhashika. This school believes that: consciousness and mental factors, objects, the ten forms of matter, arising and ceasing, etc., as well as non-associated compositional factors, the three unconditioned phenomena such as space, and past and future things, are each truly existent and also exist as truly established. Gross things and continuous things, etc., are considered unreal. Sense organs and sense consciousness arise from truly established consciousness. All conditioned phenomena are momentary, impermanent. It is believed that the self of a person is merely imputed and not substantially existent. Within this school, there are also internal differences in the acceptance of tenets, with some being better and some worse. The Sautrantikas believe that treatises have errors, so tenets must conform to the sutras, because it relies on the sutras of the Hinayana (upper volume, page 102). This school believes that, among the aforementioned dharmas, unconditioned phenomena and non-associated compositional factors are nominally existent, merely imputed, and not truly existent. Forms, etc., have gross continuums, consciousness is not truly established, and past and future dharmas are also merely nominally existent. Only the present moment's atom and the moment of consciousness are indivisible and truly established. The eye does not see form; eye consciousness directly sees form.
