If someone says, 'I will give you such a reward, give you food, or just a little food.' If a bhikkhu, in order to obtain a robe, accepts such a reward, namely food or a little food, and thus obtains a robe, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. Furthermore, if a bhikkhu, having given a robe to another bhikkhu, becomes angry, agitated, and intimidating, and with discontent, takes back the robe or instructs others to take it back, and says to him, 'I will not give you the robe, give it back to me!' then that bhikkhu should return the remaining robe, and if he returns it and lets go, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If a bhikkhu obtains a robe that has arisen from waiting, up to the tenth day of the last month of autumn, if he wants it, that bhikkhu should accept that robe. Having accepted it, he should hold it until the time of giving the robe. If he holds it beyond that time, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If many bhikkhus spend the rainy season in dwellings or monasteries that are said to be dangerous, fearful, or liable to be frightened by various fears, then a bhikkhu who wants to be solitary should leave any of the three robes in another's house. If a solitary bhikkhu has a reason to go outside the boundary, that solitary bhikkhu can be separated from the robe and outside the boundary for up to six days. If he exceeds that time, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. Bhikkhus should search for rainy season cloth one month before the harvest season. After the rainy season ends, they can hold the cloth for half a month. If a bhikkhu searches for rainy season cloth before one month before the harvest season, or holds it for more than half a month after the rainy season ends, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. Furthermore, if a bhikkhu knowingly converts property dedicated to the Sangha for his own personal use, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. The Blessed One has prescribed these specific medicines that are beneficial for sick bhikkhus, namely ghee, sesame oil, honey, and raw sugar. If a sick bhikkhu wants, he can accept and bless them for seven days, store them, and enjoy them as he pleases. If he enjoys them beyond that time, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2-1195

2-1195 'Venerable ones, I have recited the thirty Saṃghāvaśeṣa dharmas that should be abandoned. Now, I ask you, venerable ones: 'Are you pure in this matter?'' I will ask again and again: 'Are you pure in this matter?' If you, venerable ones, are pure in this matter, you should remain silent, thereby indicating your approval. Ninety Pācittiya Dharmas End of the Second Volume Summary: Awareness, seed, unassigned, repeatedly, water, house, thought, many guests, thieves, offerings, festivals. Summary: Falsehood, fault, bhikkhu slander, disturbance, teaching, recitation, evil dwelling, Dharma, acting as a friend, disparagement. Venerable ones, these ninety Pācittiya dharmas are recited during the fortnightly recitation of the Prātimokṣa. Knowingly speaking falsely, one commits a Pācittiya. Speaking of others' faults, one commits a Pācittiya. Slandering a bhikkhu, one commits a Pācittiya. If a bhikkhu knowingly disturbs the peaceful resolution of a dispute by the Saṃgha in accordance with the Dharma, one commits a Pācittiya. If a bhikkhu teaches the Dharma to a woman with more than five or six sentences, except for a knowledgeable person, one commits a Pācittiya. 2-1196 If a bhikkhu recites the (Buddha's) Dharma to one who is not fully ordained, one commits a Pācittiya. If a bhikkhu speaks of an evil dwelling offense to one who is not fully ordained, unless permitted by the Saṃgha, one commits a Pācittiya. If a bhikkhu speaks of the true human Dharma to one who is not fully ordained, one commits a Pācittiya. If a bhikkhu previously promised something, but later says: 'Venerable ones, acting as such a friend, I dedicate the Saṃgha's gains to my own person,' one commits a Pācittiya. If a bhikkhu, during the fortnightly recitation of the Prātimokṣa, says: 'Venerable ones, why recite the Prātimokṣa for those bhikkhus who regret, are displeased, and are harmed by these minor and subtle precepts?', thereby disparaging the precepts, one commits a Pācittiya. Summary: Seed, ridicule, instruction, bed, seat, expulsion, subsequent pressure, birth, planting, building in two stages. 2-1197 Seed --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
