Here, all of these are gathered together, and it is said that everything is gathered together without exception. 'Everything' means all. It should be understood that these two are encompassed by their aspects. Here it is said: 'The abiding of karma, the Bhagavan (Bhagavan, The Blessed One) spoke.' 2-287 'The lama is the master of karma, and so is the fruit; sentient beings are the masters of karma, and so are actions; karma will not be wasted,' so it is said. The Bhagavan, in the Sutras, fully revealed karma and the fruits of karma in various ways. It is also said that karma will not be without fruit. It is also said that sentient beings are the masters of karma, and karma will not be wasted. Therefore, karma and the fruits of karma exist. Here it is said: 'Because it has been shown that self-nature does not exist, therefore, from that unborn one, arises the undying self-grasping. That which produces grasping also comes from discrimination.' Because it has been shown that karma has no self-nature, therefore it will not be destroyed. Furthermore, self-grasping arises from it. Therefore, karma is produced by grasping at self-nature, and that also originates from discrimination. Furthermore, if the self-nature of karma changes, the body born from that will be permanent. If karma becomes possessed of self-nature, then the body born from that karma will also be real, that is, it will become a permanent self-nature, so it is said. Furthermore, the ripening fruit of suffering will not arise. That karma will also not become the ripening fruit of suffering. 2-288 Furthermore, therefore karma also becomes self-nature. Because that karma is permanent, therefore it becomes self-nature; because what is impermanent is suffering, and what is suffering is without self. Therefore, karma does not arise because it has no self-nature. Because it does not arise, it will not be wasted. Furthermore, karma is not born from causes and conditions, nor is it born from non-causes and conditions. Karma is not born from causes and conditions, and nothing is born from non-causes and conditions. Why? Because conditioned phenomena are like illusions, like a city of gandharvas, like mirages. Because conditioned phenomena are like a city of gandharvas, illusions, and mirages, therefore karma does not exist in its own nature. Furthermore, karma has afflictions as its cause, conditioned phenomena have afflictions as their self-nature, the body has karma as its cause, all three are empty in essence. Because karma arises from the cause of afflictions, because conditioned phenomena arise from the cause of karma and afflictions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because it arises from the elements of the body, all three are inherently empty. If so, without karma, there is no agent; without these two, there is no result; without that, there is no enjoyer; therefore, it is emptiness. If analyzed by reason, if the result is inherently non-existent, then karma is also non-existent. Without karma, there is no agent. Without karma and agent, there is no result. Without that, there is no enjoyer; therefore, it is emptiness. Furthermore, if one correctly sees that karma is emptiness and fully understands, karma will not arise; without karma, whatever arises from karma will not arise. If, from the cause of seeing inherent emptiness, one fully understands, karma will not arise. If that karma does not exist, then whatever arises from that karma will not arise. Here it is said: Is it merely non-existence? Or does something exist? Here it is explained: It exists. If asked: How so? Just as the Bhagavan Tathagata (Tathāgata) performs a magical emanation, and that emanation emanates another emanation. From the countless emanations of the Tathagata, what need is there to mention the emanation emanating from an emanation? Whatever is merely conceptual, both of these exist. Similarly, the agent is like an emanation, and karma is like an emanation emanating from an emanation. It is inherently empty, but whatever is merely conceptual exists. Just as the Bhagavan Tathagata performs a magical emanation, and that emanation emanates another emanation, so too should karma be understood. Therefore, if the emanation of the Tathagata is inherently empty, what need is there to mention another emanation emanating from an emanation? Just as whatever is merely conceptual exists in both, so too is karma. Furthermore, if karma inherently exists, then there is no agent from Nirvana (Nirvana). If it does not exist, then there are no results of happiness and suffering produced by karma. If karma inherently exists, then once karma is inherently established, there is no Nirvana. Furthermore, there is no agent of karma. Why? Because even without an agent, karma can be perfectly accomplished. If it is inherently non-existent, then there are no results of happiness and suffering produced by karma. Here it is said: If the Sutras extensively say that it exists, how can it be non-existent? Here it is explained: Saying that it exists is because... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
