transforms. If it is not how to stop, then it will become permanent. Therefore, nirvana is neither a thing nor a non-thing, but the absence of birth and death; such a state is nirvana. Here someone says: 'Cessation exists, and it is permanent.' To this it is explained: If cessation exists, then it will also become a non-thing. If cessation exists, then it will also become a non-thing, and it will also become independent of anything. This is not reasonable. It does not exist in non-things, nor does it exist when non-things do not exist. Whether it is non-things or non-things, cessation does not exist. As it is said: 'From the base is established the attribute, from the attribute is established the base, but they are not independently established. One cannot be established from the other, the unestablished cannot be the establisher.' Characteristics are established from the base, and the base is also established from the characteristics, but they are not independently established. One cannot be established from the other; they are mutually unestablished. Therefore, since in this way, neither the base nor the characteristics can be established, so neither the base nor the characteristics are established, and these things are not established. This explains the cause and effect, as well as sentient beings and experiencers, etc., as well as seers and the seen, etc., all of which are included. Here someone says: 'Time cognizers think that time has three aspects: past, present, and future; therefore, time exists.' To this it is explained: Because of not abiding, mutual establishment, scattering, and the non-establishment of self-nature, because things do not exist, the three times of past, present, and future are not truly existent, but merely conceptual fabrications. Time is not established. Why? Because of not abiding. Time is considered to be non-abiding. What cannot abide cannot be grasped. How can what cannot be grasped be established? Therefore, time is not established. Furthermore, because of mutual establishment, it is considered to be established by mutual dependence. Relying on the past to establish the present and future, relying on the present to establish the past and future, relying on the future to establish the present and past, therefore, since it is considered to be established by dependence, time is not established. The same thing, relying on the present, is called the present; relying on the future, it is called the past; relying on the past, it is called the future; therefore, because it is so scattered --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is not established. Furthermore, because self-nature is not established, this time is also not established by self-nature, therefore it is not established. Furthermore, because there is no object, it is also not existent. If an object were established, then time would also be established, but that object, after being sought, its own nature is not established. Therefore, time is definitely not established by its own nature, it is merely conceptualization. Here someone says: 'All conditioned phenomena possess three characteristics: arising, abiding, and ceasing. The opposite of that is unconditioned. Therefore, conditioned and unconditioned phenomena exist.' Here it is explained: 'Because arising, abiding, and ceasing, these three characteristics of conditioned phenomena, do not exist, therefore neither conditioned nor unconditioned phenomena exist.' Those arising, abiding, and ceasing that are said to be the characteristics of conditioned phenomena, if analyzed, are unreasonable, therefore they do not exist. Because they do not exist, therefore neither conditioned nor unconditioned phenomena exist. Furthermore, even if conditioned phenomena are acknowledged, because they are unreasonable when analyzed, therefore they do not exist.' Someone asks: 'Why?' The answer is: 'Not ceased is not ceasing, and ceased is also not ceasing; abiding is not abiding, and not abiding is also not abiding; arisen is not arising, and not arisen is also not arising.' Regarding this, will what has already arisen arise again? Or will what has not arisen arise? Regarding this, first, what has already arisen is not arising, because it has already arisen. What has not arisen is also not arising, because it has not arisen. That which has arisen, that abiding is also not abiding, and that which is not abiding is also not abiding. Regarding this, abiding is not abiding, because it has already abided. Not abiding is also not abiding, because it has not become abiding. Now, will what has ceased cease? Or will what has not ceased cease? In both cases, it is unreasonable. Because even if conditioned phenomena are acknowledged, but if analyzed using these three sequences, it is unreasonable, therefore conditioned phenomena do not exist. Because conditioned phenomena do not exist, unconditioned phenomena are also impossible. Furthermore, conditioned and unconditioned phenomena are neither many nor one; neither existent nor non-existent; neither both existent and non-existent. All these aspects are gathered here. If analyzed, conditioned and unconditioned phenomena are neither many nor one; neither existent nor non-existent; neither both existent and non-existent. All these aspects are gathered here, that is, definitely. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
