If there is doubt about whether someone is male or female, for example, because he/she turns around, then this is indeed doubt about the person themselves. Therefore, truly and completely understanding the truth will arise, without a doubt, because it is due to truly understanding the truth. If neither has a true understanding, then it is non-comprehension, not doubt. Because uncertainty, non-comprehension, non-grasping, not knowing, and not seeing, these meanings are not different, and they are different names for ignorance, because they are the opposite of knowledge. As it will be explained: knowledge arises depending on difference, and if difference is not seen, ignorance will arise. If turning around or waving hands is seen, it will not become doubt, and if there is no difference, it is ignorance. It becomes like this: if there is difference, knowledge arises, and if there is no difference, it is ignorance. For situations where difference and no difference occur simultaneously, because there is no third possibility, there is no doubt. Question: If our knowledge does not arise definitively for a certain purpose, then for that purpose, we will have doubt, is that so? Answer: It should be said that because of existence and non-existence, the purpose itself does not exist. To strive for a certain purpose, that is the purpose. As you say, just as a potter strives for a pot. If the pot already exists in the clay, then his effort becomes meaningless. However, if it does not exist, like sand, because it does not exist, one does not strive for it. Question: One does not strive for sand, because there is an example. Just as when cloth is needed, one strives for cloth and so on, not for the absence of cloth. Answer: It should be said that this situation is also the same as the previous one. Furthermore, because there is no beginning and middle, the end is also not seen. If the beginning and middle of a purpose are not seen, how can the end be seen? If there is no beginning and middle, there will be no end. Therefore, there is no example. Question: The purpose agreed upon by worldly people and practitioners is an example, and it can be similar or dissimilar. Answer: It should be said that because it is similar, fire cannot be an example of fire. Because of similarity, it cannot be called an example. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding why fire cannot be an example of fire, it is because there is no distinction between what is to be proven and the prover. If it itself is both what is to be proven and the prover, then how can it become a special example? Furthermore, water cannot be an example of fire because their properties are different. Water that belongs to coldness is not suitable as an example of fire, because in some cases, water is cold, just like fire. If it is said that this is because they are similar in some aspects, that is also incorrect, just like Mount Meru and hair. If it is said that because they are similar in some aspects, they can be an example, that is also incorrect. Why? Because here, Mount Meru and hair also have some similarities in existence, singularity, and being animate. Furthermore, no one would say 'hair like Mount Meru.' If it is said that they can be an example because they are similar in most aspects, that is also untenable, because it has already been negated that they are similar in most aspects. Here, it is also incorrect that they are dissimilar in most aspects, because they are neither similar nor dissimilar in most aspects. Regarding established tenets and branches: Questioner: 'You are stating an unestablished tenet, so it should not be discussed with someone without a tenet.' Answerer: 'That can be said, if the beginning is not established, then the end will not be established either.' If the beginning is not established, then the middle and the end will not be established. Questioner: 'Without branches, one cannot be a prover, and what you say as branches do not exist. Therefore, all of this is refuted by irrelevance, so it is necessary to undoubtedly accept the branches and discuss them, otherwise the refutation will not be established.' Answerer: 'That can be said, because there is no whole, there are no branches.' Here, because there is no whole containing the branches of promise, reason, example, application, and conclusion, there are no branches. Questioner: 'In the collection, the branches are not established.' Answerer: 'That can be said, because they do not exist in each individual, so they will not be established in the collection either.' If it is said that there is a whole in the collection, that is also incorrect, because there is no whole in each individual, so there will not be one in the collection either. Furthermore, if the whole is singular, then all the branches will become singular, and this flaw also exists in other cases. However, if it is different from the five branches...
