Furthermore, regarding those that are manifestly conjoined, When one thing has gone to another place, Because it has gone to another place, That image is incomplete. Know that, like an incomplete drawing, All its parts are not fully complete. What are those that serve as the means of drawing? They are generosity, discipline, patience, and so forth. Emptiness, possessing all kinds of supreme qualities, Is described as form. Wisdom, knowledge, and liberation, Because they are clear, radiant, and pure, And without difference, are light and rays. Like the orbs of the sun. Therefore, until Buddhahood is attained, Nirvana is not attained. Just as without light and rays, One cannot see the sun. Likewise, the essence of the Victorious One, Is said to be the ten categories. That which dwells within the husk of afflictions, Is to be understood by these examples: The Buddha in a lotus, honey in a hive, essence in chaff, gold in impurity, Treasure in the earth, small fruit in bamboo shoots, the Victorious One's body in rags, A ruler in the womb of a wicked woman, a jewel image in the earth. Just so, This element dwells in sentient beings, Obscured by the stain of adventitious afflictions. The stain is like a lotus, a living being, a husk, impurity, earth, fruit, rags, And a woman tormented by the blazing fire of suffering and the element of earth. The Buddha is like honey, essence, gold, treasure, a banyan tree, a jewel body, A supreme lord, a jewel image, and a supreme stainless element. Just as dwelling within an unsightly lotus, Is the Thus-Gone One blazing with countless marks. Seen by beings with stainless divine eyes, He is drawn forth from the lotus petals. Likewise, for the Sugatas dwelling in the Avici hells, With the Buddha's eye, he sees their own nature. At the unobstructed end, with compassion, He liberates us from obscurations. Just as the Bliss-Gone One dwells comfortably in an unpleasant closed lotus, The divine eye sees him dwelling within it and cuts the petals. Afflictions such as attachment and hatred obscure the essence of the complete Buddha, seeing beings, With compassion, the Sage destroys those obscurations. Just as honey surrounded by a swarm of creatures, Is sought by a skilled person for that purpose. Having seen it, through skillful means, he completely separates the honey from the swarm of creatures. The great sage, with his all-knowing eye, Sees the nature of awareness, like honey. And he makes the obscuration of that nature of awareness, like bees, Completely and permanently abandoned. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just as bees are obscured by hundreds of thousands of creatures, people seek honey. Clearing away those bees, and making honey as they wish. Likewise, the uncontaminated wisdom that beings possess is like the honey of bees. Afflictions are like bees, conquering them is like a skilled king. Just as the essence of grain with husks. People do not use it. Whoever seeks it for food and other purposes. They extract it from the husk as if taking it out. 2-158 Likewise, the afflictions that beings possess. Mixed with dirt, however long the king lasts. Not liberated from the mixture of afflictive dirt. Until then, the king does not gather the three realms. Just as the essence of rice, buckwheat, barley grain is not taken out from the husk, with bran. Not well prepared, people do not use it, it does not become delicious. Likewise, the Dharma sovereignty that beings possess. Not liberated from the husk of afflictions. It does not give the taste of Dharma joy to beings afflicted by the hunger of afflictions. Just as extremely precious gold. Falling into a place of filth and decay. The immutable Dharma nature is also like that there. Even if it remains there for many hundreds of years. The gods with pure divine eyes there. Seeing it, say to the people, there is gold here. This precious treasure should be refined, with jewels. Do what should be done. Likewise, the Thus-gone One sees beings sunk in impure afflictions. For the sake of clearing away that mud of afflictions. He rains down the sacred Dharma rain upon beings. Just as gold falling into a place of filth and decay is seen by the gods. For the sake of complete purification, extremely beautiful, strongly showing it to people. 2-159 Likewise, the Victorious One sees beings sunk in great impure afflictions, the complete precious jewel. For the sake of clearing them away, he teaches the Dharma to beings. Just as in the house of a poor person, underground. There is an inexhaustible treasure. That person does not know it, and the treasure also. Does not say to him, I am here. Likewise, the treasure of jewels contained within the mind. The stainless self-nature, the indivisible Dharma nature. Because it is not realized, the suffering of poverty. Beings constantly experience various kinds of suffering. Just as in the house of a poor person, a person in whom a treasure of jewels is contained. Does not say that he has the owner of the treasure, because he does not know.
