The sound is not heard, Nor does it reach the ears of the gods. Likewise, the subtle Dharma is, The object of detailed wisdom, Only a mind without afflictions, Can hear it. Like clouds in springtime, The cause of abundant crops, Effortlessly pouring down, Masses of water upon the earth. Likewise, from the clouds of compassion, Falls the rain of the Victorious One's sacred Dharma. Becoming the seed of beings' virtue, Falling without discrimination. How does the world enter the path of virtue? As wind arises and rain falls from the clouds. Likewise, for the sake of increasing beings' virtue with the wind of love, Rain of sacred Dharma falls from the clouds of the Buddha. In existence, wisdom and great compassion transform, Unchanging, unstained, abiding in the center of the sky. Possessing the water of Samadhi (Sanskrit: samādhi, 三摩地, concentration) and Dharani (Sanskrit: dhāraṇī, 总持, retention), with a stainless essence. The cloud of the Able One (another name for the Buddha) is the seed of virtue. Cool, sweet, soft, And light water emerges from that cloud, On the earth, it combines with saltiness and so on, Transforming into very many flavors. Likewise, the rain of the noble eightfold path's water, Emerged from the essence of the vast and compassionate cloud. From the distinctions of beings' existences, It becomes endowed with many flavors. Those who rejoice in the supreme vehicle, The intermediate ones, and those who hate it. The three groups are impure, Like peacocks and hungry ghosts. The absence of clouds at the end of spring is like humans and birds that do not fly in the sky, When rain falls on the earth, the hungry ghosts suffer. Depending on whether the clouds of compassion gather and the water of Dharma arises, it is the same in the world of those who desire Dharma and those who hate Dharma. When coarse drops, hail, and vajra fire fall, The clouds are unrelated to small creatures and those who have gone into mountain crevices. Knowing the subtle and vast reasoning, the clouds of compassion, Are completely unrelated to the transformation of afflictions and the latent consciousness of self-grasping. The cycle of birth and death has no beginning, and there are five paths to go there. Just as there is no good smell in impure things, there is no happiness in the five realms. Its suffering is always felt like fire, weapons, saltiness, and so on. From the clouds of compassion, the great rain of sacred Dharma falls, completely pacifying. Gods know death and transference, and humans seek suffering. Those with wisdom have no desire even for the supreme power of gods and humans. Wisdom and the Tathagata (Sanskrit: Tathāgata, 如来, one who has thus gone) are the same. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Following the scriptures of the Buddha with faith, one sees by knowing 'This is suffering, this is the cause of suffering, this is the cessation of suffering.' Like a disease is to be known, the cause of disease is to be abandoned, the state of well-being is to be attained, and medicine is to be relied upon. Suffering, its cause, its cessation, and the path to it, are to be known, abandoned, realized, and practiced. Just as Brahmā (the creator of the universe) emanates from the Brahmaloka (the highest realm of the Form Realm) without moving, appearing effortlessly in all the realms of the gods (devaloka, the world of the gods). Similarly, the Buddha (thub pa) from the Dharmakaya (chos sku, the true body of the Buddha) without moving, effortlessly shows emanations (sprul pa, various forms manifested by the Buddha to liberate beings) to the fortunate ones in all realms (khams, different worlds or realms). Just as Brahmā (tshangs pa) constantly resides in the eternal palace (gzhal yas khang), not leaving the desire realm ('dod khams), seen by the gods, and causes them to abandon attachment to sensual pleasures. Similarly, the Sugata (bde gshegs, a title of the Buddha) abides in the Dharmakaya (chos kyi sku) without moving, seen by the fortunate ones in all the world realms ('jig rten khams), and constantly eliminates all defilements. Just as by the power of past aspirations (smon lam) and the virtuous deeds of the gods (lha), Brahmā (tshangs pa) appears effortlessly, so is the self-born emanation (rang byung sprul sku). The Buddha, having shown birth, entering the womb, being born, leaving the royal palace, enjoying pleasures, practicing in solitude, subduing the Maras, attaining great enlightenment (byang chub, awakening, bodhi), and guiding the way to the peaceful city of Nirvana (zhi ba'i grong, referring to Nirvana), no longer appears to those without merit. Just as when the sun appears simultaneously in the hot season, lotuses and others bloom, and water lilies close, the merits and faults of the blooming and closing of flowers, are unrelated to the sun, similarly, the Buddha's manifestation is unrelated to the capacities of beings, like the sun of the noble ones. Just as the sun, without discrimination, shines simultaneously with its own light, causing lotuses to bloom and others to ripen. Similarly, the sun of the Tathagata (de bzhin gshegs pa, a title of the Buddha), with the rays of the sacred Dharma, enters the lotuses of those to be tamed without discrimination. Having attained the essence of enlightenment (byang chub) with the Dharma body (chos) and the Form body (gzugs kyi sku), the all-knowing (kun mkhyen) sun, like a castle, radiates the light of wisdom to beings. Therefore, in all the pure water vessels of those to be tamed, countless images of the Sugata's (bde gshegs) sun appear simultaneously. In the sky of the Dharmadhatu (chos dbyings), which constantly pervades everything, the Buddha's sun descends as appropriate to the mountains of those to be tamed. Just as this vast sun, with a thousand rays, rises and illuminates the entire world, and then gradually descends upon the highest, middle, and lowest mountains. The Victorious One's sun (rgyal ba'i nyi ma, referring to the Buddha) also gradually descends upon the assembly of sentient beings. The pure lands (zhing) of the Buddhas fill the sky, but the sky is not the sun, the darkness of ignorance obscures wisdom. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
