So, how does it transform into a mandala? Here, it does not refer to thangkas or paintings newly created through human effort, but rather to the inherent channels that become deities from the very formation of the body of sons and daughters, meaning that the body possesses the essence of deities from the beginning. The Jonangpas divide the body's channels into the three categories of the completely imputed, the other-dependent, and the thoroughly established, believing that the thoroughly established channels can be analyzed through reason and are truly existent, therefore they can be visualized as deities. The completely imputed and other-dependent channels are conventional truths, therefore they cannot be visualized as deities, and the difference between these is very significant. If someone thinks that the channels themselves are deities or not deities, then Jetsun (Tibetan: རྗེ་བཙུན།) said in the Ornament for Clear Realization (Tibetan: མངོན་པར་རྟོགས་པའི་རྒྱན།), 'Are these the five wisdoms, therefore should they be visualized? Or are they not the five wisdoms, therefore should they be visualized?' The answer is 'They are the five wisdoms, therefore they should be visualized.' And within this, there are two types: whether the essence is real, and whether the aspect or dharma-nature is real. The essence is not real, but the aspect or dharma-nature is real.' This seems very important in all instances of visualizing all appearances of the purifying basis, the purifying agent of the inner body mandala, and the outer generation stage as deities. However, some people, intoxicated by the poison of conceptual thought, believe that visualizing appearances as deities cannot possibly transform them into deities. Others apply the principle of combining the purifying basis and the purifying agent to language, saying that sentient beings are Buddhas, and even acknowledge this in name. However, the view of the supreme Jetsun is that on the nature of mind, which is the union of clarity and emptiness, all the qualities of the Buddha are naturally and spontaneously complete. Merely obscured by sudden defilements, various illusions arise. When these illusions are also illusions of the union of clarity and emptiness, if the illusions do not cease, it is samsara; if the illusions cease, it is solely the appearance of the wisdom of the Buddha. In order to cease illusions, one visualizes as a deity, therefore it becomes a deity. The meaning of 'the essence is not real, but the aspect or dharma-nature is real' is precisely this. The key to visualizing appearances as deities is also here. The key to the inseparability of samsara and nirvana is also here. On the basis of the union of clarity and emptiness, the accumulated habitual patterns exist in the body in the form of channels. What is possessed in the body naturally manifests as external deities. Therefore, the key to why the outer mandala is not as profound as the inner body mandala is also here. Even if saying this is beneficial, one cannot transform the body's channels into deities, and one cannot merely blame external appearances because of its power, nor can it be explained in this way. You should understand its meaning with faith and wisdom. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It appears as a question through mere understanding, and is clearly explained through compassion. It is not that the deity is newly created through the mantra and seed syllable (Tibetan: ས་བོན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: बीज, Sanskrit Romanization: bīja, Literal meaning: seed) of the mandala, but because the channels, elements, mantras, and seed syllables (Tibetan: ས་བོན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: बीज, Sanskrit Romanization: bīja, Literal meaning: seed) of the body are inherently present, it is merely transforming them into the form of the deity's face and hands. For example, just as transforming a lump of clay into the shape of a vase. The fifth question is, Je Lama (Tsongkhapa) said: 'The reality of the ground, the three of birth, death, and bardo, as they are, through the power of practicing the generation stage, realizing the Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya of the fruit, I understand this great chariot path.' If a yogi practicing the generation stage of Hevajra applies this to their own practice, then a clear explanation is needed on how to purify the three of birth, death, and bardo, which are the objects of purification, through the generation stage and its retinue, which are the methods of purification. To this, the Guru's view is from the Vajra Tent Tantra: 'To destroy the ordinary state, correct meditation is very famous. To destroy the state of self-nature, it is neither meditation nor non-meditation.' The Bodhisattvas' realization is like that, however, in order to equally purify the degree of impurity, one should meditate on the form of the Tathagata. 10-3-16a Based on this, the ordinary state, the degree of impurity, refers to the conceptual thoughts of clinging to the mundane. In order to purify it, one must practice the generation stage, which is common in unsurpassed yoga, purifying one complete phase of samsara's birth, death, and bardo with one complete realization. The unique instruction of the Lord of Yoga is that each stage of the generation stage, or each color and hand implement, etc., purifies all of samsara. The first method is that ordinary conceptual thoughts have two aspects: cause (karma and afflictions) and result (clinging to self and other). The first is purified by accumulating the two accumulations. The second is divided into outer vessel and inner content. Purifying the outer vessel refers to the palace made of the four elements, and if only one hero deity is visualized, it is the seat. Purifying the inner content is done through one generation stage practice, purifying the four births, and purifying the afflictions through the deity's form. The first method is that from the five abisambodhis, by generating the Vajradhara (Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ་འཛིན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्रधर, Sanskrit Romanization: Vajradhara, Literal meaning: Holder of the Vajra) as the cause, the heat of the sun and the moisture of the moon represent the heat and moisture born from them, or by representing semen and blood through the sun and moon, one purifies the mind of the womb-born. Furthermore, by extracting the retinue's consort from the womb, one purifies the womb-born. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
