The Manner of Acting for the Benefit of Others The second has three aspects: how he acted after [his teacher's passing], how he turned the wheel of Dharma, and how he created holders of the fruit. How He Acted Afterwards The first [of these] is three stanzas beginning with, 'The vows without stain...' Because his vows were without the stain of faults, and because he regarded his lama as inseparable from the yidam deity, he acted to accomplish all his intentions just as they were. The Dharma Lord himself, according to the tradition of Zhalyi Lugs, placed offerings such as rows of lamps before the Three Jewels from among the articles of offering. He fully accomplished whatever was appropriate to honor the sangha in great monastic centers such as Ganden, Sangpu, and Nalendra. He accomplished whatever was appropriate to bestow gifts upon the sangha residing at Ewam Choden at the appropriate time. He established a pure tradition of accomplishment offerings of the great mandalas of unsurpassable yoga for the supplications after [his teacher's] passing and for the annual festivals. He also established a pure honoring of the sangha at the monthly offering festivals. Furthermore, as supports for his body, he had made a life-sized statue of the Dharma Lord himself, and an extremely large copper-gilt Shakyamuni teaching the Dharma. As supports for his speech, he had made a collection of the writings of the five Sakya fathers and sons, including the Dharma Lord himself. As supports for his mind, inside the main shrine, he had made an extremely large stupa, adorned with gold, in which the relics of his remains were placed. Outside, he had made the Eight Sugata Stupas, each with a golden umbrella and golden pinnacle. All of these were completely finished within a little over a year, and all the artisans were satisfied with honor, offerings, and so forth. He performed the enshrinement of mantras, the sealing of the base, and the consecration in accordance with the tantras, and they remained blazing with auspicious glory. The relics that appeared from his remains were placed in the hearts of the two golden statues. The remainder, along with the ashes of his remains, were used to make seven million tsatsas, half of which were placed inside the Eight Sugata Stupas and the vase of the main shrine. The other half were made into robes of gold and other materials, and were given to various places as objects of faith. How He Turned the Wheel of Dharma The second has two aspects: a brief presentation by arranging the order of his activities, and a detailed explanation by following the order of the teachings.

Summary of the Essentials: Firstly, the verse 'Supreme Guru' and so on, means that noble beings, with the great aspiration to benefit others, and the power of wisdom that truly understands reality, teach all the sacred Dharma in accordance with the minds of those to be tamed, which is the nature of Dharma. Thus, after the feet of the Dharma Lord Good One departed to the Pure Land, for two years, the wheel of Dharma of empowerment, tantra, oral instructions, and transmissions continued to turn without interruption. Thereafter, in the year of the Wood Tiger, he arrived at Mus, and established the monastery of Deden Ritro. There too, he turned countless wheels of Dharma, including oral teachings. Then, again in the autumn of that year, he went to Ewam Choden, and as before, satisfied those to be tamed with profound instructions. At that time, the powerful Chakravartin king Rinpungpa and his brothers invited him, and requested profound teachings. Then, again in the autumn of that year, he returned to Mus, and in the year of the Earth Dragon, he entered a very strict retreat at Samten Phuk. As soon as the year of the Snake began, he established the profound instructions of oral teachings and so on at Deden Ritro, and when all the Dharma activities were completed, Tai Situ Namgyal Drakpa Palsangpo, the reincarnation of the lotus with lineage, and the upholders of the teachings of Ngamring Chode, invited him with great effort to the monastery. After arriving at the monastery, he bestowed pure empowerments upon the patrons and their sons, and showered the great rain of sacred Dharma, including oral teachings, upon the Geshes of the monastery, causing the first crops of liberation to sprout and grow. Then, again in the autumn of that year, he went to Ewam Choden, and taught profound instructions, including oral teachings, to about a thousand virtuous friends from all directions who had gathered there. Of the material possessions that came into his hands, some were made into golden gan-dziras and erected on top of the temple; some were kept in the temple as offerings; others were given as gifts to the dignitaries and offered to the general Sangha. Fifth, in the spring of the year of the Horse, he went to Mus, and satisfied the faithful at Deden Ritro with profound instructions. In the winter of that year, he was again invited by the northern patrons and went to Pel Ngamring, where he turned the wheel of Dharma, both profound and vast. Then he returned again to Deden Ritro. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
