If one could accomplish this, one would have the power to depart freely without abandoning this body. In any case, although countless bodies have been taken since beginningless time, none have been more meaningful than this present one.' He expressed much satisfaction with such words. Those in attendance secretly discussed, 'Is it because there were not many who received the Black Four Empowerments this year, and many who took monastic vows and full ordination?' He heard this immediately and replied, 'None of those are the reason. Knowing that I will not remain this year, I have done what I could, hoping to benefit the continuation of the teachings.' It is said that he spoke thus. Then, until the eighth day, he did not speak much else. Sometimes he would gaze at the sky and smile. Sometimes he would stretch and shake his hands and feet, as if turning a wheel. Sometimes he would make dance-like gestures with his body, and so forth, remaining in a state of meditative experience day and night. On the evening of the eighth, as the sun was setting, he straightened his body, gazed into space, cut off external distractions, and remained solely in meditative absorption. Moreover, from about four days before showing the manner of passing into peace, his body had the appearance of a sixteen-year-old child. His eyes were clear, with dark pupils, and his ears, nose, and lips were very distinct. His face was without wrinkles, and it had a white and reddish glow. From the eighth to the twenty-fifth, his body remained in that same radiant state. Due to this power, those in attendance did not feel that he was about to pass away. Birds and wild animals also did not go elsewhere but remained nearby, and an unprecedented, particularly pleasant fragrance constantly filled the room. Then, on the twenty-fifth day, his head tilted slightly to the left. The sudden radiance of his face disappeared, and it returned to the appearance of an elderly person. Even after leaving it until the thirtieth, there was no other change. When the robes were removed, his body was in the posture of a bodhisattva in full lotus position, with his knees slightly crossed to the left. The weight of his hips rested on his heels. His right hand, in the vajra fist mudra, held his left armpit. His left hand, with the threatening finger mudra, rested on top of it, and then he embraced his right arm. His spine was straight. It is said that this was the posture of the great Indian adept Avadhuti. Judging from this biography, if one can accomplish the practice as one wishes, one can avoid abandoning the body...

He promised that he had attained the supreme siddhi (accomplishment), and although he had taken countless bodies since beginningless time, he said that no body had been more meaningful than this one. From this, it seems certain that he attained the supreme siddhi of Mahamudra (Great Seal) in the Bardo (intermediate state). When he was about to pass away, his body showed signs of complete marks and signs, which is similar to what Chöje Sakya Pandita (famous Sakya scholar) saw when he was about to pass away: At the top of Lingchu, at dawn, Jetsun (Venerable Master) was in the center, Virupa (Indian Buddhist master) on the right, and Nagpopa (Indian Buddhist master) on the left. Jetsun said that in the third rebirth, he would become Vimalaprabha (Buddha name), and Virupa and Nagpopa helped. Virupa touched the nectar in the skull with his finger and said, 'Stretch out your tongue,' and then a spot appeared on his tongue. At that time, he experienced clear and non-conceptual wisdom that transcended the extremes of concept and non-concept, and he felt that even in the minds of the Buddhas, there was nothing more supreme than this. At that time, he attained signs such as the sinking of the secret place and the invisibility of the crown of the head. This is consistent with what he said. May I, with body, speech, and mind, and with enjoyment, please the Lama (Guru) in four meaningful ways, understand everything he does as the deeds of the Buddhas, and strive to accomplish extraordinary deeds. Auspicious! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
